About the Hotel

Hotel Endsleigh is a Grade I historic house set in 100 acres of fairytale woodland, follies and grottos created by Humphry Repton. The Duke of Bedford, who owned a third of Devon, chose this spot for his fishing and hunting lodge. Hidden on the edge of the Dartmoor, many of the 18 bedrooms have magnificent views of the gardens, the river Tamar and beyond into Cornwall. There is no muzak whatsoever at Endsleigh only the birds singing and the bats squeaking.

Ripoff Sunday Lunch

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 13 hours ago

Just had Sunday Lunch at this Hotel/Restaurant…What a complete “Ripoff” £29 for one course which consisted of 3 slices of grisly Beef 3 small hard as rock roast potatoes that were not cooked properly 1 had thin carrot again not cooked 2 stems of broccoli again almost raw a spoonful of overcooked red cabbage and some at best warm gravy for £29!!! The remaining meals were no better having had my own restaurant before my retirement I now the difference between fair value for money for well cooked fresh food and being ripped off. If the Polizzi family still own this Hotel then you should be ashamed. Would never set foot in this place again and the only positive thing I can say is that the staff are lovely people and the setting of the hotel is quite beautiful.

A joy from start to finish

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

From the moment we arrived - to the warmest welcome from Adam Cornish, the general manager - to the moment we left two days later - in warm spring sunshine - the whole experience offered by Hotel Endsleigh was divine. Our room was wonderfully spacious and comfortable, the food was delicious, the wine list superb and the service from staff warm and friendly. One of the highlights was our walk around the incredible gardens on our last morning. My wife and I couldn't recommend this hotel more highly.

Glorious

Went for a bday meal. Wow. Glorious day, so sat outside overlooking the valley. Service was very prompt, and I am impatient for a cold a beer in such places, so that was great. Wonderful meal. Three course for 67 gbp. Service and food exquisite. Great job. Will definitely be back.

A slice of heaven in beautiful Devon!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Why has it taken me so long to discover this enchanting hotel! Our stay was just heavenly from start to finish. And very dog friendly too! I just love the vibe of understated timeless elegance. And no snobby pretentiousness either. The hotel is located in a beautiful valley near the Tamar river. The staff were all delightful and nothing was too much trouble. We loved walking around the beautiful gardens and exploring all the hidden nooks and crannies. The food didn’t disappoint either. We ate in the duchess’s quiet room where our dogs were able to join us at mealtimes. Our classic room (10) was very spacious with a huge comfy bed. The bathroom was well appointed with bath (shower over), WC, basin and bidet. Lashings of hot water. Our only niggle was that we would have liked a kettle in the room so that we could make ourselves an early morning cup of tea at a time of our choosing. We are already planning our next visit….

Afternoon Tea!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We were given an afternoon tea voucher as a wedding gift and it was fantastic. Both gluten free and citrus allergies weren't an issue they ensured I didn't miss out by making items that weren't on the menu. Very well looked after and a beautiful setting afterwards to go for a walk and take some pictures. Thank you!
