Forty miles by seaplane from its legendary Per AQUUM sister, Niyama Maldives is a worthy newcomer. You'll find every bit of deserted island dream fodder here – tucked-away lounge areas that invite a nap by the water, overwater bungalows, infinity pools and a turquoise-heavy color palate that blends right into the horizon – but the array of indulgent activities also attracts a hip and active crowd.

Niyama Private Islands Maldives is an amazing resort located in the Dhaalu Atoll. Access/Check In - The check in process was smooth. After landing on our international flight, you are transferred from Male airport to Niyama airport lounge. This airport lounge is luxurious and has everything you need (facilities, food, drink..etc). We waited in the lounge for about 30-45 minutes while our seaplane was readied. Niyama Private Islands Maldives is 40-45 minute sea plan ride from Male. The seaplane ride has amazing views and the pilot gives you a Birds Eye view of the resort prior to landing. (See attached pictures). We had great clear weather on our arrival day! After landing in Niyama, we were met by our Thakaru "YouKay"! Youkay gave us a tour around the island and checked us in to our villa. We were surprised with a Honeymoon set up on our arrival! Thakaru/Niyama Staff - Niyama does not have a main reception desk. Instead, you are given your own personal Thakaru. Our Thakaru was "YouKay"! YouKay was awesome and attentive. He scheduled dinners for us, excursions, and anything that we needed. He knew everything about the island and was always able to assist. I really enjoyed the Thakaru service. We made friends with YouKay and looking forward to seeing him again one day! In general all the Niyama staff are friendly and ready to help! Another one of our favorite staff members was the personal trainer "Roger". We took several stick mobility classes with him. Also try the spa! Niyama has an amazing spa. Accommodations - We stayed in a Deluxe Over Water Villa. The Deluxe Over Water Villa was the perfect accommodation. It overlooks the lagoon and has some of the clearest water on the island (See attached picture). You are able to access the lagoon from your villa for snorkeling or swimming! The villa was well kept and clean. The bathrooms are huge with amazing finishes! The beds are comfortable. Overall I would highly recommend the Deluxe Over Water Villa. The Deluxe Over Water Villa is located on the "Chill" side of the island. Our villa faced towards the Vodi Surf Break and had amazing sunset views (See attached pictures). **Note that the Deluxe Over Water Villa does not have a hot tub, it is a bubbler. The Resort/Restaurants - You are provided bicycles to explore Niyama Private Islands. I really like this feature and it is a great way to exercise and get around the island. The bicycles paths are well kept and the resort staff rakes them every morning. Our favorite restaurant was "Nest". This restaurant is located on the "Play" side of the islands and is tucked back in the palm trees. The architecture is amazing and the food has an asian theme. Niyama also provided a lot of beach dinning while we were on property. We attended "Cinco de Mayo" and "Brai Night". These type of events our awesome and help provide variety during an extended stay. We typically ate breakfast at "Epicure". "Epicure" is the main breakfast location. Breakfast is served by buffet. Overall the breakfast was a 4.5/5! The food is typically very fresh and epicure has a good backdrop to start your morning! **Make sure you review the details of Full Board vs Half Board. This system can be confusing. Surf - The Niyama Surf staff are excellent. They are helpful and provide a surf update every morning. They typically run 1-2 surf transfers daily to Kasabu or other surf locations in the area. During my stay, I was able to surf the Vodi Point 3 times. Vodi is an intermediate to advanced wave. During this time of year (May), a wind from the West/South West is onshore at Vodi. Luckily we were able to get a few days a low onshore to slack winds. The start of the SW monsoon season allows surfers to access other surf points that would not be available during the NE monsoon season. During my stay we had a large SW swell. The Swell really turned on the other surf points in the area. Niyama surf team had a secret surf spot about 10-15 mins boat ride from the resort. This spot was hollow right hand break and great spot for a possible barrel! I would highly recommend the Niyama Surf Team and the Surf in the Dhaalu Atoll. The water is so clear and warm. Weather - For the most part we had perfect weather for our trip (5/3-5/12). The 1st 5 days of the trip were completely sunny with no rain. The SW monsoon kicked in on the final 5 days of the trip. The days were still mostly sunny with highest chance of rain coming at night time (Typically US Florida Summer Weather). The weather was awesome and it was hot/sunny 90% of the time. Niyama Private Islands Maldives was the trip of a lifetime. The 40 hours of travel from the US was worth it!

Faru our thakuru was fantastic. Villa 52 was amazing and situated in the Crescent. Best and Sub Six were our favorite restaurants and Tribal was also very good. Overall the staff were AMAZING, and a SPECIAL thank you to the EVER smiling coconut man( pic below) Snorkeling outside room 24 off the beach was most enjoyable and I have many memorable videos of the fish n corals. Snorkeling Safari was also most enjoyable. The island itself is simply beautiful, the natural vegetation is most striking and sets the scene for a beautiful holiday adventure.

It was a great experience in Niyama. The blue sky, clear sea, unpolluted night star, all of these are impact me. I know I should love the Earth more. And I believe everyone who worked in Niyama are really enjoy their job. They show how they enjoy to work in this paradise. We can easy to find their happy smile. Especially, I would like to thank you and praise Thakuru- Imthy. He is conscientious and helpful. This is an unforgettable memory in my whole life. I hope in the coming future I can visit Niyama again.
