Edinburgh Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The hotel was lovely, well appointed and steeped in history. The location for us, was great and we were treated very well with excellent service. The only thing of note is that the room was a bit tight after we travelled 7 days on a hiking tour in the Highlands. But the room was well appointed and quite clean.

The Perfect Hotel in Edinbrugh

On our travels through Ireland and Scotland, this was by far our favorite hotel. A rare mix of a boutique historic feeling hotel with all the amenities. Great location, beautiful spacious room with wonderful views, great meals and outstanding service. We stayed three nights and our only regret is we had to head home to the US and couldn't stay longer.

The staff in this hotel are thieves! We stayed in room 100. On the day of check-out, we found a small slip of paper on the floor with handwritten notes calculating our cash. We didn’t think much of it at the time and simply threw it away. Only after returning home did we discover that $1,000 was missing from our backpack, even though we had never opened that cash during our stay. The in-room safe was not working. Even after five attempts it showed only an error, so we had no choice but to keep all our valuables in our personal belongings. We reported the theft to the hotel and asked for an investigation. However, the hotel responded that apart from their own staff — a room attendant and the head housekeeper — nobody had entered our room. To me, it is obvious that the housekeepers were responsible for the theft. I find such behavior from staff absolutely unacceptable for a hotel of this level. Even worse, I find it unacceptable that the management did not consider it necessary to properly investigate the situation. We will never stay in this hotel again. This hotel damages the reputation of the country in which it operates.

Beautiful hotel with top staff. Great food and drink. Only bugbear was room was next to the lift. Took the compromise as we were able to check in early but it did impact on sleep.

We stayed at Bonham hotel for 3 nights in Sep. 2025. Besides being a gorgeous property, we were very impressed with friendliest staff, great restaurant and wonderful location. I would highly recommend Bonham hotel to anybody who are visiting Edinburgh.
