Reviews for The Bonham

A lovely stay with beautiful views

We absolutely loved staying at The Bonham. We had a junior suite overlooking Dean Village. I have absolutely no complaints about it. The room had sweeping views, high ceiling, a really nice bathroom, a very comfy bed, and amazing blackout curtains. It is a short walk from the tram stop from the airport. Most importantly it is out of the fray of Old Town. The neighborhood it’s in is so peaceful but just a short walk to get to everything that you want to see in Edinburgh. I will definitely stay here again.

Lovely

Lovely old hotel with modern amenities. Food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner. Service couldn’t have been better. Great location, quiet and walkable.

Overpriced for what you get, go out for breakfast it's not worth 28 pounds.

Hotel is on a lovely road, beautiful big building, really nice inside. Reception staff not the friendliest to be honest, the lady was just stood there putting chewing gum in her mouth no eye contact. The man was better but not very friendly, we weren't told where the breakfast room was, or the bar was. Just was given our room key. Oh and that to park our car in the hotels carpark which was very small at the back of the Hotel it was 20 pounds a night ! The carpet going up the stairs was lovely but unfortunately had dark red stains on most of the stairs. The Room was nice but not luxury as described. The bed was comfortable but there were stains on the sheets and again on the towels in the bathroom.there was tea/ coffee facilities. Hairdryer, umbrella, fridge etc. There was a tray with complimentary crisps, sweets and biscuits on. Breakfast was nice but not amazing. The man who served us was very polite and helpful. ( He was wearing a checked suit) Don't know his name , but was a credit to the Hotel. The Hotel is in walking distance to the Town, old Town and Castle. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. In my opinion this Hotel is okay for one night but for the cost it's not worth a longer stay.

Wonderful Independent Hotel

There are a very large number of Hotels in Edinburgh so choosing somewhere with character, in a quiet but not remote location with a restaurant and top reviews was a challenge. The Bonham fulfilled all of the above, as well as having great service throughout. An "old fashioned" building with very nice well appointed rooms. A comfortable stay with 3 good nights sleep, along with a well named boozy snooze lunch made for a great stay.

Perfect home base to explore the heart of Edinburgh

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the room and hotel itself were beautiful and comfortable. I really appreciated the little touches like a radio playing classical music when I first entered the room, and the staff already having my bags waiting for me in the room after I dropped them off earlier that morning, before check in was available. Very easy to get to from Edinburgh Airport (a short walk from the West End tram station), which I appreciated as a solo traveler.
