Important - The Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian has recently been renamed to The Caledonian Edinburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton. The Caledonian Edinburgh is currently undergoing renovation expected to be completed early 2025. The transformation of the hotel is already well underway and is taking place over a phased approach to ensure we can continue to operate as business as usual.
The Caledonian Edinburgh is one of Edinburgh's most significant and recognizable landmarks. Standing proudly at the west end of Princes Street, the heart of the capital, its reputation for style and excellence has attracted generations of locals, international visitors and notable personalities for over one hundred years. Built in 1903 and formerly part of the grand Caledonian Railway, the hotel is full of memories, including Peacock Alley which represents the historic heart, once the station concourse and ticket office. Beautiful hotel great location, no complaints except one……..the gym is one of the better gyms that I’ve seen in most hotels but it’s lacking one crucial machine,….. A leg extension/hamstring machine. Get this one piece of gear and your gym will be top notch.

Had a superb stay with my family - everyone was very friendly and helpful. Definitely enjoyed my conversations with Joseph, who was a wonderful gentleman with us. Will come again!

My husband and I were firstly so taken aback by the lovely welcome from the Concierge on arrival and on entering the hotel to Joseph who checked us in as he was so caring and professional and we had a lovely conversation. We were there to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary and we will have lovely memories to last forever. We were in the most fantastic room facing the Castle which was immaculate and so comfortable. What can we say about the afternoon tea and the meal we had at night apart from presentation and taste was second to none and the staff could not have done anymore for us truly exceptional. Thank you and we hope to return again in the future.

This is one of those hotel stays that will leave a fond memory for life. While the property is indeed stunning - from the hotel foyer, to the dining room, bar, bedroom and spa it would be nothing without their exceptional staff. Without exception the staff were absolutely incredible. So kind, so attentive (without over doing it!) so knowledgeable. It was an absolute joy. I was traveling for a couple of days on my own and then my daughter was joining me. As a solo traveller, I couldn't have felt more comfortable and more safe. I acknowledged how the staff even sat me in the dining area and then at breakfast. They made sure to sit me in the most appropriate space for someone on their own. I was very grateful for that. The hotel itself is spotless. The rooms are perfectly laid out with gorgeous amenities. The food was beautiful. And the spa area was a perfect way to both start and finish my days. While each staff member deserves a mention unfortunately I didn't get all their names! I would like to make a special mention about Yannic and Catherine who were both front of house. They were so generous with their time and patience and were the type of people who you want to have welcoming you and then there to wish you a fond farewell. Thank you again to all the team for a wonderful stay

This is a stunning hotel - old world charm done exceptionally well. Location - this is excellent right at the end of Princes street and at the bottom of the Castle. It is also convenient for the tram to the airport. The Hotel - It was spotlessly clean and felt specious throughout. The rooms were large with high ceilings reminiscent of the period that the hotel was built. For an old building it was exceptionally well maintained. The staff - this was the highlight. They were all very helpful, friendly and incredibly welcoming. I have to call out one of their front of house staff - Erin. I travel a lot, stay in a lot of hotels and have seen the good and the bad. Erin was one of the nicest people I have met to date. She could not have been more helpful or genuine in how she interacted with the guests. Even taking time to listen and compliment my daughter playing the baby grand in the lobby area! She is a credit to the hotel and made our stay so much better. The food - that was the reason for the lost star. We tried the Court restaurant one night and it was very poor. The food was good (not great), but the service was terrible. Again the staff were lovely but so slow it took an hour from being seated to getting our food. I can understand if there were busy, but they were not. The breakfast is also disappointing - the buffet is limited to hot food, and you have to order anything else. Again I ordered an omelette one day that never arrived. The food was the only downside and being Edinburgh you have so many options around you - try Huxley next door. I would not let that put you off what is a grand hotel full of charm and great staff.
