Important - The Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian has recently been renamed to The Caledonian Edinburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton. The transformation of the hotel is already well underway and is taking place over a phased approach to ensure we can continue to operate as business as usual.

This is one of those hotel stays that will leave a fond memory for life. While the property is indeed stunning - from the hotel foyer, to the dining room, bar, bedroom and spa it would be nothing without their exceptional staff. Without exception the staff were absolutely incredible. So kind, so attentive (without over doing it!) so knowledgeable. It was an absolute joy. I was traveling for a couple of days on my own and then my daughter was joining me. As a solo traveller, I couldn't have felt more comfortable and more safe. I acknowledged how the staff even sat me in the dining area and then at breakfast. They made sure to sit me in the most appropriate space for someone on their own. I was very grateful for that. The hotel itself is spotless. The rooms are perfectly laid out with gorgeous amenities. The food was beautiful. And the spa area was a perfect way to both start and finish my days. While each staff member deserves a mention unfortunately I didn't get all their names! I would like to make a special mention about Yannic and Catherine who were both front of house. They were so generous with their time and patience and were the type of people who you want to have welcoming you and then there to wish you a fond farewell. Thank you again to all the team for a wonderful stay

This is a stunning hotel - old world charm done exceptionally well. Location - this is excellent right at the end of Princes street and at the bottom of the Castle. It is also convenient for the tram to the airport. The Hotel - It was spotlessly clean and felt specious throughout. The rooms were large with high ceilings reminiscent of the period that the hotel was built. For an old building it was exceptionally well maintained. The staff - this was the highlight. They were all very helpful, friendly and incredibly welcoming. I have to call out one of their front of house staff - Erin. I travel a lot, stay in a lot of hotels and have seen the good and the bad. Erin was one of the nicest people I have met to date. She could not have been more helpful or genuine in how she interacted with the guests. Even taking time to listen and compliment my daughter playing the baby grand in the lobby area! She is a credit to the hotel and made our stay so much better. The food - that was the reason for the lost star. We tried the Court restaurant one night and it was very poor. The food was good (not great), but the service was terrible. Again the staff were lovely but so slow it took an hour from being seated to getting our food. I can understand if there were busy, but they were not. The breakfast is also disappointing - the buffet is limited to hot food, and you have to order anything else. Again I ordered an omelette one day that never arrived. The food was the only downside and being Edinburgh you have so many options around you - try Huxley next door. I would not let that put you off what is a grand hotel full of charm and great staff.

I had high hopes when booking my stay at The Caledonian and the staff, property and facilities far exceeded my expectations. I received white-glove service starting prior to my arrival and this high standard continued the moment I set foot in the property and throughout my stay. From the doorman taking my bags, porter delivering them to my room and the front desk pronouncing my Hawaiian name correctly - it was truly a marvelous welcoming experience. I made dinner reservations at The Court with specific accommodation requests which were handled perfectly. The staff provided attentive service while allowing time for my guest and I to speak freely without interruption. The service was bettered by the meticulously beautiful and succulent food that was served. Hats off to the chef and staff that provided an exquisite dining experience. I stayed in a Queen Premier Room with Castle View (room 432 - photos attached). This luxurious room is in an ideal location for me with a breathtaking view of the castle. I opted for in-room dining on my second night and the food was once again impeccable. The chap that delivered the room service was respectable, courteous and very friendly. This property provided a quiet and safe space for me. So much so that I have canceled a reservation at a different property so I can stay here again at the end of August.

Location was superb it was a walking distance from the old town and the new one. Food at their main restaurant "The Court"was delicious and the service great. As for Nathan the concierge he was of great help guided us through venues and restaurants that were really good. We had a small health incident were all staff who knew of it were of utmost help even the General Manager of the hotel attended to it Mr Nitin Ramtri making us feel at home and safe. Reem&Henry Azzam

Superb stay! Loved 1. Location - easy walk to all Edinburgh sites 2. Many restaurants and Cafes nearby 3. Spa and pool 4. Plush rooms with very comfy beds 5. Marble baths 6. Nice historic looking building and refurbed inside Disliked 1. Pool and jacuzzi and sauna and steam were intermittently not working. Staff said it was for safety reasons and offered no kind of compensation due to unavailability. For a 5* it was a let down
