Kimpton Charlotte Square

My recent stay at Kimpton Charlotte Square was, unfortunately, far below expectations for a 5-star hotel. Right from the start, the check-in process was frustrating — the room we had been promised was not provided and staff denied any prior agreement, leaving me feeling as though I was being dishonest. This was both unprofessional and disappointing. I asked to speak with the manager but despite staying for six days, I never heard from her. The cleanliness of the room was another issue. I discovered two insects on my first day, which is simply unacceptable at any hotel, let alone one with a 5-star rating. While the staff were generally friendly, they were not particularly attentive and service felt inconsistent throughout the stay. Bathroom amenities were extremely limited. It’s surprising (and frankly baffling) that a luxury hotel would provide a single combo bottle of hand soap and shower gel. This level of amenity is more aligned with a basic 3-star property than a premium one. The only redeeming quality of the stay was the hotel's central location, which made it convenient for exploring Edinburgh. Overall, Kimpton Charlotte Square did not live up to its 5-star reputation, and I would not recommend it to others seeking a high-end hotel experience.

Really not worth what they charge. We stayed in a suite that was comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff, who were all really young, were tremendous. A real asset to the place. The pool/sauna/steam area is fantastic. The spa area and the treatments we had were good. The restaurant is the real problem. ‘Baba’ for lunch was totally underwhelming. We had really high hopes too. Breakfast was a horror show. The area used for breakfast is cramped and dark and isn’t suitable for the large number of guests that were there. The food selection was really average. Over baked, dry pastries and a hot food selection that left a lot to be desired. Three attempts to get someone to bring us some tea. We really enjoyed the spa part of our break but the rest of the place leaves a lot to be desired.

A lovely, welcoming hotel and I was blessed enough to have a castle.view!!! Fantastic location to Edinburgh castle, the Royal Mile, shops restaurants and historical sites. I can hardly wait ti go back!

This is a lovely, clean hotel with a friendly staff, comfortable bed, large rooms and great location. Easy walking distance to most everything we wanted to see. There are several restaurant options for all meals near the hotel.

A beautiful experience. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. The location is absolutely perfect--on peaceful Charlotte Square, a block away from George Street. It's walking distance to the Royal Mile (too crowded for us) and Dean Village, which I highly recommend. We were upgraded to a suite and it was gorgeous. I can't think that there's a better place to stay in Edinburgh. Dinner at Baba was a wonderful surprise.
