Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa

This hotel is first class: from the initial welcome to the last goodbye. I don't think we've ever checked in to such a fantastic welcome from Ammir and the reception team. Our rooms were incredible. The only slight downside was the constant heavy foot fall back and forth across the room on the second night till 2am but everything was spotless and the view perfect. We had snacks and drinks in the bar on two occasions. The cheeseboard was great. Would definitely recommend this hotel for its location, service and standards.

Don’t have enough good things to say about this hotel. Location firstly was great. We got Megabus from Glasgow and bus stop was just at bottom of Lothian Road so we were a 5 minute walk. We were early so we knew that we would be unable to check in but asked if we could leave our bags and come back later. Aamir on reception is a credit to this hotel. Friendly, knowledgeable and offered to get our bags put in our room when it was ready. Nothing seemed as if it would be too much trouble for him. We went for a wander in the markets and came back at check in time. This process was smooth and we were informed that our bags had been delivered to our room. The room was beautiful and spacious. Lovely castle view and the most comfortable bed. Great hairdryer so you don’t need to bring your own which is always something I would normally do. Would have gladly spent more time in the room if we didn’t have so much planned as it was such a lovely place to relax. The only downside is that the toilet cubicle is slightly small when door closed. We used the spa on the Sunday morning and what a treat this was. Lewis on reception was so welcoming. The swimming pool alone would have been an experience but as this was a gift we were booked in to thermal spa which was half price for residents of the hotel. We were booked at 8am which was a lovely quiet time. All the rooms were relaxing and the rooftop hydro pool was worth it alone. Lovely showers and changing rooms with cloud nine hairdryers straighteners and curling wand. Due to having things booked didn’t get a chance to use bar or have food but looked lovely and relaxing area. Would definitely recommend and can’t rate the staff highly enough

The spa was fantastic and thermal suite a must. The room overlooking the castle was lovely and the bed really comfortable. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The club lounge was fantastic and well worth it. We had a complementary bottle of wine and chocolate brought to our room on New Year’s Eve. The only thing I can complain about was the complementary gift which was meant to be delivered on New Years Day but we never received even after informing the reception that a card had been pushed underneath the door. Everything else was excellent and we would definitely stay here again.

Long check in time. Antiquated system. I still had to hand write my home address Room was ok but poor extraction fan and confusing light switches. Rom wasn’t cleaned until after 3pm on both days and even then I had to ask them to do it. Long queue to wait for breakfast. Even longer to get a fresh coffee (you’d finished eating by the time coffee came) Drinks in bar over priced. Even then the barman took ages to pour 4 pints…. By this stage in a normal pub they’d have served 10 people. He used a stapler for paper!!!! Ages to check out, despite 4 staff members manning the desk. Spa was ok but not worth £45 each. No views of the city from the pool; very misleading photographs on hotel website. Pool Lockers mostly broken. Scottish breakfast had no Lorne sausage but in plus side did have potato scones. At £17 each…very pricey. £25 if you book on the day. It’s equivalent to a 3* Holiday Inn express. Not as posh looking as I was hoping. Go somewhere cheaper.

Our children booked a 2 night stay for us for our anniversary. The hotel is in a great location at the bottom of Princes Street so easy access to shopping and historical sites. It is a beautiful hotel, even more so this time of year and the rooms are fantastic with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Food and drink reasonable and on a par with the rest of central Edinburgh, the Spa is excellent and reasonably priced for guests. Staff were all very polite , friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble , they also provided a bonus bottle of prosecco in the room on arrival.Would definitely recommend a stay here.
