This hotel is a true gem. It felt sophisticated, modern, and overall very peaceful. My partner had a conference here and I tagged along. The pool was lovely, the complimentary yoga was great, views were unbeatable. The food at Vaga was delicious and the sunsets were A+. I wish I purchased a spa treatment, but hopefully will experience it in a future stay.

I love this hotel. It had an easy feeling, while still feeling luxurious. The amenities were great. I took the complimentary yoga class and I felt like it was still a challenge even being at the resort. The hot tub is the size of the pool and overlooking the ocean. That and the room were my favorite part. My friends were getting married at the hotel and the service and the food during was amazing. I will definitely be back to stay when I can enjoy the property and relax more.

Great location and relatively new hotel. I was a Guest of Honor because my husband is a globalist. Upon check in, front desk didn't mention any of the Globalist benefits except free parking. I requested a 4 pm late check out in the morning of my check out day (common practice) and was told I should have requested it at check in so it's no longer available, AND I need to go to the front desk again to "reactivate" my room key for my 1 pm check out. To top all these confusion, I was asked to provide my ID when I went down to "reactivate " my room key for my 1 pm check out. The whole experience put a really bad taste in my mouth and I was really looking forward to this stay - my first time with Alila. Other than the front desk, everyone else from valet parking to breakfast was extremely friendly. For a hotel of this caliber, front desk staffs can be a little more welcoming (most of them dont even smile). I would actually recommend Park Hyatt to others if they want to stay around this area.

I've had the pleasure of staying at the Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas five times since its opening in March of 2021, and each visit reaffirms why it's my favorite hotel in California (although I haven't stayed at other Alila properties yet). I must admit, it's a gem I'm hesitant to share because of its perfection. The quality of the stay, property, and staff has consistently exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrive, I'm greeted with warmth, professionalism, and a complimentary drink that sets the tone for a relaxing getaway. The small pool area is a highlight, with outstanding service that makes lounging by the water a truly indulgent experience. And let's not forget the oceanfront hot tub—pure bliss. The rooms are large, sustainable, with an eco-tourism design that perfectly captures the essence of California's clean, modern aesthetic. It's hard to put into words, but it's simply perfect. I've also had the pleasure of exploring the area with their free electric bikes, which added an extra layer of fun to my stay. I just want to point out one area that can be improved. While the breakfast is good and food quality is top-notch, I can't help but wish it mimicked the high-end breakfast buffet offered by the Park Hyatt Aviara down the street. Additionally, I've noticed that the restaurant service can sometimes feel understaffed, leading to longer wait times. However, these minor issues pale in comparison to the overall excellence of the resort. Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas has become my go-to destination for weekend getaways. Its intimate atmosphere, stunning location, and top-notch service make it a truly special place. While I'm tempted to keep it my little secret, I can't help but share my admiration for this hidden gem by the sea.
