Perched high in the mountains in the heart of Switzerland, located only a short distance from Lucerne, the Kempinski Palace Engelberg sits at the foot of the Titlis mountain. The historic Grand Hotel from 1904 combines the charm of the Belle Epoque era with the most modern luxury comfort for the discerning guests. Exceptionally comfortable, the 129 rooms and suites radiate contemporary Swiss flair and offer sweeping views of the beautiful alpine surroundings.

We sat on the Terrace and ordered Aprerol Spritz when the rain came! Marcin came over with an umbrella and asked if we wanted to go in which when it didn’t stop we did. Inside was a super bar where we enjoyed the rest of our time there. Thank you to Marcin for making our visit so special.

Such a special town and the Kempinski Palace was perfect for our family trip!! Loved the spacious room, enjoyed the food and the great location. Visiting Mount Titlis was a great experience for young and old. Some of our family experienced para gliding in the Alps!!

Overall fantastic family stay at a stunning hotel. Stayed as a family with young children, the hotel is beautiful with great stuff and very family and children friendly. Rooms are well appointed with lovely views of the mountains, very conveniently located opposite a park and 2 minutes from a supermarket and train station. Also thoroughly enjoyed the pool and spa area in addition to the kids club. My only small criticisms could be 1) some recognition at check in. This was our second stay in less than a year and we've handed over >$5k to the kempinski it would be nice for the person at check in to say 'welcome back' rather than 'have you been here before?' 2) Prior to arrival we submit a survey around our arrival time, we anticipated we could arrive at 12 noon and we were informed that check in is at 3pm but they could make the room ready for an additional 150 CHF, this leaves a little bit of a bitter taste in the mouth when you already pay $1k a night, if you have the capacity to make the room ready for the guest then make it. 3) The F&B experience could be better. Breakfast for example is nice with a lot of options and many items to order but a little more attention could be given. The pancakes are not light and fluffy but rather stodgy, and the large block of butter they have actually tastes and smells like it has gone bad. We ordered room service a few times, and the kids menu is very good with good portions, however for us a few items we ordered did not arrive as expected with ingredients either added or missed. I also got the impression some of the food staff were perhaps seasonal temps and not up to the usual expected standards. A big shout out to Freya from Guest relations who I could reach out to and would solve any problem immediately, which is in fact a testament to the Kempinski brand where even in the unlikely event something falls below expectations they certainly work hard to rectify it, also Nils made us feel very welcome and looked after. The beauty of the hotel, the amazing facilities, and the child friendly aspect of the hotel in addition to the incredible guest relations staff will keep us coming here every year.

Superb service, beautiful hotel, rooms and restaurants. Staff went above and beyond to make this a special stay. We enjoyed the spa on a rainy day. Very easy to get to from Lucerne and wish we had stayed a 4th night. Breakfast buffet was outstanding. Staff accommodating and friendly. Bar with great atmosphere and bar menu for a quick bite. Can’t wait to return.

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Engelberg, just a couple of minutes walk from the train station, is the wonderful Kempinski Palace. This is a beautiful old hotel that has been tastefully modernised and upgraded. We went for one of the suites in the older part of the building and we weren't disappointed. The room was immaculate, the entrance section has some beautifully crafted wooden closet space. It has a powder room and main bathroom. The circular bedroom was just stunning. A huge very comfortable bed. A sitting area inside the room and a wrap-around balcony outside. The pool and sauna area is at the rear of the hotel on a higher floor. But this allows the pool stunning panoramic views of the mountains. There's also the usual hot tub spa as well as a wellness area for treatments. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant area, and the breakfast is full and expensive. Buffet and a la carte. We had some of the best pineapple we have ever had. The chef is Italian and apparently gets it imported from Austria. We also dined in the same area in the evening. It has some beautiful views out to the village. Then one of the nights we dined at the seasonal Ruinart Challet. Which is built just for the Christmas period. And here you can dine on different types of cheese fondue and champagne.
