I booked a superior room here for 2 nights. The room was in the main building (Pian Rinaldi) in the center of the property. It was small but had all of the necessities. There are several private villas for rent (8) scattered throughout the large property. Most appear to have private pools. This appears to be the way to go if you are staying here. I imagine my experience would have been different staying in a villa, but I was traveling solo. The staff were friendly. The restaurant menu wasn't expansive, and I was surprised. Perhaps most of the dining occurs in the villas. I was relaxing by the pool one afternoon, as were several other couples, when something was going on below the nearby kitchen. I'm not sure if there was a problem or if they were cleaning out a septic tank, but that's what it smelled like...very foul. It went on for some time, and eventually everyone vacated the pool area. I would have thought a guest relations person would have come around to apologize or explain, but no one did. In fact, I never saw anyone who appeared to be a manager going around and greeting guests during my time there. I found this unusual for a luxury hotel. If you want to go into Florence and don't want to drive, the staff recommended driving 10 minutes to a nearby town and taking a 25-minute train ride. That worked perfectly.

We had a wonderful visit at Viesca. We stayed in Villa Pozzo. Was perfect for our family with 3 BR. Pool area is beautiful. The nice thing about viesca is you get the Italian villa experience but also have a prepared breakfast, access to the restaurant, spa, cooking class etc. so the best of both worlds between hotel and villa.

We stayed here in two rooms. The rooms are spacious, but somehow unimpressive. There was a heat wave during our stay, so it was hard for the A/C to keep up, and is created a definite smell of moisture. The pool is amazing. Our biggest issue here was the staff. The staff seemed like a bunch of hospitality interns with no leader. Very inconsistent and nobody seemed sure what to do, ever. Also, the restaurant could be good, but no, and again, the staff. I was served raw chicken and nobody noticed. We met a nice family from Canada and watched as their linebacker of a son didn't even eat the club sandwich; that says it all for the food. For a Small Luxury Hotel, it was sorely lacking.

What an incredible retreat outside the city. The setting is so beautiful and relaxing. The staff was very helpful in making dinner reservations and suggestions for day trips. Our 3 days went too quickly! We loved the wine, pizza party and gelato!!

Everything was amazing, big property, we had a minor issue with the room air conditioning but it was solved immediately. We were welcomed very warmly and we loved everything, the hosts very professional. Cannot wait to come back this autumn.
