Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof

Worst 5 Star hotel in Europe. Manager Vivian McKanne just asked me why I was telling her about the problems when I am about to check out? Tone very much like “it’s your fault for not telling us that we don’t have basic amenities” Stay somewhere else! Irresponsible management. Front staff albeit friendly barely holding it together. Not sure what’s wrong with this hotel… management needs changing. Look at the arm chair in the lobby.. that will tell you what’s in the rooms.

This is my first stay at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof and it is an exceptional experience through and through. The hotel is an Icon in the city of Frankfurt and it has a rich history but more importantly, it has a fabulous team led by Mr Friedrich Von Schönfeldt and his wonderful assistant Perrine D’or, Christopher on front Desk and the greatest female Concierge in Europe, Julia, who is always full of smiles and gave the best recommendations to enjoy our stay in Frankfurt. As soon as you arrive, you realize the majestic grandeur of the Hotel and despite its stunning classical architecture, the rooms are ultra modern, yet cozy and warm - with the most comfortable sleep I have had in ages. Amongst my personal favourite areas of the hotel are the terrace restaurant and bar which is stunning, the fabulous SPA which is absolutely world class. Lastly, whilst the Frankfurter Hof is an iconic hotel and gives you and absolutely serene feeling when you are there, however it is located right in the heart of the city of Frankfurt and it is centrally located to the airport and it is within very close proximity to Frankfurt’s business and shopping districts. So for business, exhibitions, shopping or pleasure, I would choose the Frankfurter Hof any day. I just love this hotel.

This is a 5 star hotel price wise,but not consistent across the board. Certain areas of the hotel are spectacular but the corridors are a little tired. Negatives first: Both days there was no hot water in the bathroom or shower and the aircon was not effective - the room was always warm. The body odour of the cleaning staff was terrible and lingered in the room for some time after they had departed. The blackout curtain in the room did not fit the window and the light poured in very early- needed our eye masks! The shower is in the bath which isn’t a problem but it was slippery and no anti slip mat. There was no soap in the bathroom soap dispenser. All these things sound petty, but this purports to be a 5 star hotel. Most importantly, after a long day of walking we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. When we asked if we could sit at a table near the window, we were unbelievably brushed off by a male staff member who actually flipped his hand at us! We were so incredulous we immediately left the restaurant. As we were deciding where to go, this waiter had the gall to follow us outside and attempt to make an excuse. When we pointedly remarked that he was blatantly rude, he responded that ‘you Americans - are you playing the racist card?’ Yes, this did happen! The ignorance, arrogance and disdain was appalling - clearly not being dressed up and European led him to form an opinion and act in a disrespectful and dismissive manner. Ps - we’re Australian! It made his behaviour even more gobsmacking. Positives - the hotel is located in a central position; lovely professional bar staff especially Valentine who really made our stay enjoyable; very good breakfast and staff and excellent front office concierge.

5 star hotel and air conditioning basically not working. No chance to set the temperature. Super low fan and not cold enough temperature. Unacceptable, as from june it gets very hot and having air conditioning should be the MINIMUM that the hotel should offer

We had a fantastic stay at the Steigenberger Hotel! The staff were incredibly kind, courteous, and helpful throughout our visit. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Frankfurt, making it easy to walk to shops, restaurants, and major sights. One highlight was the gym—it was one of the best hotel gyms we’ve seen, fully equipped with premium Eleiko gear. Highly recommend for both leisure and fitness-focused travelers. We’ll definitely be back!
