A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city. Kimpton Blythswood Square has been a prestigious address since the early 19th century. Overlooking a private garden square, the hotel's Georgian townhouses were originally home to wealthy merchants and were later turned into the club headquarters for The Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today, the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel has been spruced up for the 21st century, with a multi-million pound refurbishment that has refreshed all of the existing guest rooms and suites with an elegant new look and the launch of the 1,900 sq. feet two-bedroom Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony, media room and dining area. The Hotel also hosts a 10,000 sq. ft. Spa facility with 9 luxury treatment rooms, a thermal suite, 2 relaxation pools, and a lounge and café area.

I met Ian from housekeeping who was so nice and friendly- happy to help and make suggestions for a better stay in Scotland a Top Bloke

Once again, we had a wonderful experience at the Kimpton. We come here every year. It never disappoints. Everyone is always happy to help. There is little turnover of staff which is a testament to the hotel’s commitment to caring for people. It is a short walk to the city center but in a quiet and serene part of Glasgow City Center.

This is a beautiful hotel. It feels very high end with features, ambience (free wine-tasting in the afternoon) and staff. But that’s where the 5 stars ends. It is a “surface-level” 5 star hotel. Once you are a registered guest, you realize the niceties don’t extend into an actual great stay. 1. Horrible gym. It’s very small with low ceiling and no natural light. I actually laughed out loud when I saw it, because it doesn't "match" the quality of the lobby and hotel sleeping rooms. 4 pieces of equipment require electric. 3 were not working. Fitness center opens at 7:30. That’s too late for any business traveler or tourist wanting to hit the gym before starting their day. There are no windows. You must be let in by a staff member. Your room key won’t open the door, which is annoying because you have to find a staff member to have them let you in. To use American slang, the gym was a dump. 2. There are always linens, rolling carts, and other equipment in the hallway. No matter what time of day. That’s where they live. 3. Signage is terrible. Every guest gets lost going to/ from their room. It’s an old hotel with lots of winding hallways, fire doors and stairs. Better signage is essential here. And easy to do. Why they don’t have better signage is a huge mystery. I met many guests in the halls, lost, and wandering their way to their room or the lobby. This is a hotel used by many tour groups, and many of those group members are elderly. That demographic can get confused easily, and this hotel does nothing to help them out. 4. The AC was a hit or miss in the rooms. My party booked several rooms. Some of us had freezing cold room and couldn't get the AC turn off. Others of us had very hot rooms and the AC couldn't keep up. Travelers beware. This hotel has a wonderful exterior but core issues once you are a registered guest. It is in a wonderful location, with easy access to many great attractions.

We did back to back Kimptons from Edinburgh to Glasgow and was perfect selection. Both had superb breakfasts, attentive to food allergies, were friendly and service oriented, plenty of practical and accommodating traveler amenities, spacious and clean. Welcoming front desk, concierge, breakfast staff (the charismatic friendly breakfast waiter at Bylthswood was attentive and charming). Convenient location to city center. Blythswood Kimpton had old school opulence: reflects the original housing of the ritzy Royal Scottish Automobile Club.

Another visit to the Blythswood and it was an amazing stay. We enjoyed a lovely room , premium with bathroom window which looked into the room. Fresh water, chocolate and crisps provided along with soft drinks in mini bar which were all complimentary. The staff were all very polite and friendly. Breakfast was a good choice of cold and cooked to order hot. On our previous visits they did have broilers with sausage, bacon etc, but now this is a made to order option which is better. The happy hour was again a nice touch and the concierges were happy to welcome guests and provide wine to the guests. We will be back soon!
