Reviews for The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman

Nearly Perfect

I just returned from a fantastic stay at the Ritz Grand Cayman. The property lives up to expectations as one of the premier hotels in the Caribbean. From the second you arrive you are welcomed and taken care of. Having grown up on a beach I am a self proclaimed “beach snob.” And the beach at the Ritz is absolutely stunning. The water is crystal clear and calm while the sand is powdery soft. We were upgraded to a room overlooking the ocean and it was fantastic. Each morning we opened the blinds and were greeted with an amazing view. Our room had been updated and the finished were outstanding. The bathroom was very nice but you could tell it had not been updated as recently as the rest of the room or halls. Over five days and every single staff member presented themselves with the utmost professionalism. In particular, John at the beach was the epitome of what it means to be a Ritz Carlton team member. He was always cheery and anticipated any of our needs. One time I overheard another guest speaking to him in a way that I would have found disrespectful or rude but he handled it with a smile and was pleasant as always. A couple of things to keep in mind before you stay: 1) the property is very expensive. We really wished of the 6 restaurants at least one of them had a casual, easy dinner option. Several nights we ended walking down the beach to the Westin or other restaurants just to grab a burger/tacos/cocktail so we didn’t wince once the bill came. 2) the hotel is large. When we stayed it didn’t feel crowded but I imagine it could at peak times. 3) unlike most Marriott properties they do not offer free breakfast to those with status. That’s why we often choose St Regis over Ritz at times. That’s a perk that amounts to several hundreds of dollars over the course of a stay.

Best resort with the best staff!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed in the residences and they are wonderful. Beds are so comfortable. The service is top notch at this resort. Food is phenomenal. The staff goes above and beyond. Emladen (we will miss him) and the breakfast staff are the best. I didn't give them a 5 star because my experience at the spa was not what I would expect at a Ritz or anywhere for that matter. However, we will always stay here when we visit. Our concierge was wonderful at lining everything up for us.

Cristina the bartender at St.june one of the best I have ever met. Stopped yesterday to see her she was part of the IHG FAIMILY and we miss her at the bar, and we stopped to see her and it was so nice to see a smiling face again. While we were there we got to meet her BOSS, Brendan and he was amazing . We will be returning. B

Best hotel in the world!

By far my favourite hotel. I’ve stayed here a few times for work and it’s always such a pleasure to return. The best part about this hotel is the staff and service. Shout out to Federico in the events team who is the best. Danny at the pool bar, Mohammed in the events team, Puja in housekeeping, the entire beach and pool teams, the restaurant Seven team and so many more - you are all amazing and you make such a difference. I also love all the restaurants here, especially Seven and Andiamo. Also, best Pina Colada you’ll ever find. Thank you again for another unforgettable stay!

Beach is perfect, service needs some improvement

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We visited this property in April 2024. Pros: The property is beautiful and the location is perfect. beach is pristine- very clean with gorgeous blue water. The staff is very friendly and attentive for the most part. The hotel was not that busy because the main spring break week was the week before. There are several restaurants on the property as well as a small store that has quick takeaway food, Which we frequented because my daughters are light eaters. Beach chairs are included, which is nice. There are also floats in the ocean, which we really enjoyed. Cons: The hotel was fairly empty and upon arrival, despite being a Bonvoy gold elite member, I was not offered any upgrade to my room. My impression was that the hotel was understaffed during the week that we were there. For example, thwere two big conferences at the hotel that week, and it felt as if those were the main event events and we were secondary. The pools were open until 10 PM but there was nobody available and they take all of the towels away at 5pm (even when there are people in the pool). When I asked for towels, I was told they were all in the laundry which was clearly a lie. There were people at the bar and there was staff there and we were swimming, but we were not ordering any alcohol so to me it felt that we were invisible. I told the front desk about this and the manager called me promptly which I appreciated. She wanted to give my two daughters a small gift before we left which was a nice gesture, but the gifts were toys for small kids and my daughter are teenagers. We spent a lot of time at the pool and we were not approached about ordering food or drinks- a few times I did order food. I had to walk up to the restaurant and ask for a menu. Again, as a single single mother with two teenage daughters, I felt a little invisible. We were always asked if there was anyone else joining us. Maybe the staff was waiting for my husband to arrive? Lol. I’ve stayed at other Ritz properties and the service at this one needs a little improvement for these reasons.
