Travis makes the Ritz a 5 Star!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We live in Atlanta and do staycations at this Ritz we love this property but hands down Travis who has been here year over year makes this experience with his service at the adults pool. He goes above and beyond. I am executive of Client Experience for my company so this type of service goes a long way with me. Also a shout out to Vita at the club level she was wonderful too. We will continue to come back for many more trips and years for a great relaxing weekend. This property is breathtakingly beautiful too:)

Incredible resort in east Georgia.

As a golfer I always wanted to take a trip to Reynolds Plantation. It did not disappoint. We arrived on easter Sunday and stayed for 5 nights. The staff could not have been more helpful Before our trip we communicated with Jessica Simoneaux, Guest Relations. She is the best helpful in securing the type of room we requested and giving us information we needed. Breakfast was incredible. The wait staff was very helpful. Owen was a great waiter. We had dinner at Amore and our waitress McKenzie was the best. She also worked in the office. The golf shop staff were very helpful and the practice facility was a mazing. The concierge, Patti is the best. So helpful during our stay. She had all the answers. The resort is in the middle of no where two hours east of Atlanta but it is a really a beautiful part of Georgia. The small town of Greensboro is only 15 minutes away. The week we went in early April the kids were still out on spring break so it was a bit noisy at the pool and at the restaurants on the property.

Ritz On The Lake

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I can’t stop talking about how great this place is and how well it is managed. Absolutely gorgeous, lots to do, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. Our room was clean, pretty, and beds are extremely comfortable. The restaurants are great, I love Gabbys, and the Italian one is also a favorite. Pool is excellent, Travis will take great care of you. I stayed there because my brother recently bought a house and I plan on visiting a few times a year. We rented a pontoon, the lake is so beautiful and peaceful. This Ritz and the staff are amazing. I’m returning in December. The Ritz does not disappoint!

HIGH STANDARDS you can TRUST

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

In a few moments, I'll be unloading a dump truck's worth of praise for this hotel, but I think it's important to start this review with what I found to be the most memorable aspect of the hotel, which was how intent it was to maintain its unbelievably high standards when it didn't have to. When I stayed at this hotel, parts of it, such as the main lobby, were under renovation. Furthermore, I'm just estimating, generously, that there were 10 occupied rooms in the entire hotel, because I personally didn't see enough people to even occupy 5 rooms. The hotel could have absolutely told the few guests, "Hey sorry, the hotel is going through some renovations, so X, Y, and Z facilities and amenities will be out of operation for the duration." No one would have thought anything of it. Even if the few guests that were staying at the hotel did mind, there were so few guests that the collateral damage would have been easily recoverable. However, this hotel did not take that route. Every amenity that could operate normally was operating normally, and for every amenity that had to be displaced due to construction, there was an adequate replacement. The pool, which is absolutely enormous, was heated during normal operating hours everyday. I stayed at this hotel for 4 days. When I used the pool, no one else was ever in it. From my room I had a clear birdseye view of the pool. There was never anyone in it. I feel quite confident in saying I was the only person, day or night, to use this pool during the entire four days. Like I mentioned there were barely any guests at the hotel and it was pretty cold that week. Nevertheless, the hotel kept this giant pool heated, at a cost I can only imagine, for guests to use as normal. The fitness center was one of the facilities that was under renovation, so they built a very adequate temporary one. I'm assuming the normal lobby, which was under renovation, had a bar in it. Obviously, that one was out of commission, so they built a temporary bar in the new reception area. There's a nightly tradition of a s'mores station at the fire pit. This station was still operating as normal every night as scheduled for the few guests that were at the hotel. A staff member was there every night for two hours operating this s'mores station for the few guests who were at the hotel to still be able to enjoy despite it being cold and the hotel being close to empty. The hotel even printed wall coverings with the designs of the normal walls of the hotel to cover the construction areas so that as you walk by, it at least seems a little more normal and less disruptive to the eye. If this hotel is this committed to maintaining its high standards when there would be little consequence for temporarily lowering them, I can only imagine the quality of stay when the hotel is operating on all cylinders. I knew upon arriving on property that this stay would be overflowing with memorable aspects, but that this hotel was so adamant about maintaining its world class standards, even while being in an abbreviated state, was, to me, the most memorable among many, many qualified others. Speaking of all of these memorable things, there's no way I'd be able to mention all of them without this review needing a book publisher, so I'll just highlight a handful. Even in this hotel's abbreviated state, this was still by far the best hotel stay of my life. Easily out of 5 stars, this was at least a 6. I'll start with the room. I didn't realize until I got home that I was upgraded to a corner Club Level Executive Lake View King Suite. This suite was absolutely bonkers. HUGE. Two bathrooms, full living room, full extended balcony, two at least 60 inch TVs, and an absolutely perfect view of the lake and resort. Take your expectation of what this would look like from a Ritz Carlton and double it. The main bathroom was 3/4 the size of a whole normal hotel room. Oversized soaking tub, double vanity, stand up shower, water closet, and large changing area. If you read reviews of this hotel, half of them mention the beds. They're not kidding. Think of the most talented person you know at doing anything. Then, imagine all of that talent was converted, ounce for ounce, into making a bed. That's what this bed feels like it was made of. Next, the service at this hotel was immaculate. It had the perfect balance between normal and professional. This isn't the kind of place where you just ask about something and you receive the answer verbally and that's it. I arrived at the hotel a little before my room was ready, so I figured I'd go check out the lake while I waited. However, this was my first time here and the property is huge so I didn't know where to go. At a normal hotel, a staff member would tell you to walk down this hallway and make a left when you see that monument and so on. Here, they radio someone to escort you. When you let a staff member know you want to do a certain activity, they radio someone, and a staff member is waiting at the activity for you before you even get there. It's a level of service you'd only get at this kind of place. Another aspect of this resort that I found to actually be really worthwhile was the resort fee. I don't want to serve as inspiration to raise it, but, after utilizing it, I found the daily resort fee to be one of the biggest bargains not only at a Ritz, but it would have been a bargain at any hotel I've ever visited. Upon booking I initially felt that $59 a day was on the steeper side, but I figured it's a Ritz. However, after actually using the amenities at the resort, the value of this resort fee is astounding. It includes valet parking, the gym, kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding, bike rentals, and some other things my stay wasn't even long enough to even get the chance to ask about. There are free bottles of water all over the property. The gym even provides headphones that you keep. All of the activities that I just mentioned could easily be a day's worth of activities on their own with how engaging they are and they're all included in your resort fee. I kayaked for the first time and it was amazing. I also rented a bike and rode around the property. This seems like the best time to try to summarize why this resort is so great in one short thought. It's the perfect combination of relaxing and active. With the rooms being so grand but, at the same time, homely and with views of the peaceful lake, you can just relax and enjoy your room and be perfectly content. However, when you're ready to be active, everything I just mentioned to do is there waiting for you at your own time. I was at this hotel for 4 full days and barely scratched the surface of experiencing everything there is to experience. The last thing I'll highlight is the property itself, which is absolutely spectacular. It doesn't try to compete with the natural landscape that surrounds it but it still exudes the grandeur of a Ritz Carlton. It somehow balances this perfectly. I read a review on google where a reviewer actually levied a criticism on the hotel where, paraphrasing, she complained that the hotel doesn't have the normal Ritz glamour. To me that's insane. Yes, the Ritz didn't air drop a replica of its property in Dubai with gold everywhere and 10 foot crystal chandeliers onto the side of a lake in rural Georgia where that would look and feel ridiculous and out of place. Within the ethos of what it is, which is a lakeside retreat in rural Georgia on the coast of a peaceful lake, this property is actually quite grand. Lots of dark wood tones and stone, long hallways, and unique fixtures. I found myself constantly taking pictures of the grounds and the side of the building for some reason. It just looks so perfect but the pictures don't do the full property justice. It needs to be seen in person. The right amount of subtle and the right amount of grand. At night many properties would illuminate their property to the point where you'd be able to see it from space. Not the case here because you can tell the goal is to compliment the surroundings, not compete with it. At night the building is illuminated just enough to remind you of the grandeur of the property and the grounds have just enough lighting for you to get around from amenity to amenity, but really it feels mostly like you're out in the woods alongside a lake at night at a lodge, albeit at a ridiculously luxurious one. The property just perfectly does not compete with nor try to cancel out its surroundings but still maintains its presence as a Ritz Carlton. I jokingly said in my very last trip advisor review before this one for a really good airport hotel stay that I recently had in Nashville that I was concerned that even the Ritz wouldn't be as good. Wow, did that statement age poorly. Something tells me, five star hotels like this are quite aware that a guest can have a near flawless stay at some four star hotel but the five star hotel, like this one, makes certain that when you leave the hotel, there is no question in your mind whether there's a difference between a really good four star hotel and a five star hotel. Let me tell you firsthand, there is no question. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this review, this stay at the Ritz Carlton Reynolds Lake Oconee was by far the best hotel stay I've ever had. The difference between this hotel stay and my second best hotel stay in the past is the same difference between that same second best hotel stay and a side of the highway drive in motel. This hotel is in league of its own. This place was unforgettable. I'll be back and often.

Weekend at the Ritz

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

The property was beautiful—lovely for outdoor walks. The ladies and gentlemen working there were very attentive to any needs we had—knowing when we wanted help and when we wanted privacy. The food and service in the restaurants contributed to our having a memorable weekend.
