Reviews for Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou

Guangzhou Yu-Yue-Heen Restaurant: Flagrant Opprobrium of Four Seasons

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

I regret to write in with the sole aim of complaining against the overtly despicable food quality and shamelessly awful services which I encountered in Yu-Yue-Heen Restaurant, Four Seasons Guangzhou earlier tonight. Acutely aware of Four Seasons’ blue blood heritage and still in fond memory of wonderful stays and culinary experiences I had in the past decade with this very hotel, tonight I took the trouble to go up there in hopes of re-embracing the once-wonderful tastes in this Chinese restaurant. To my astonishment, I encountered the followings, one after another: 1. Inedible beef jerky: The entrée was beef jerky, at least 30% of which was utterly inedible. I am in the prime of my life and don’t have any problem with my teeth. However, these slices of beef jerky were just so rigid in texture and inferior in taste that I had to spit out 30% of them onto a side plate... In my entire life experience thus far I have never tasted such low quality of beef jerky, ever. 2. Heavily-greasy flaky shell bean paste buns: The duo of these beautifully-named buns turned out to be a sheer disappointment to my tastebuds, since their shells were unbelievably greasy and their stuffings were barely ripe. I refuse to believe that these buns were prepared by anyone who is remotely related, either by blood or through training, to the splendid culinary culture in Guangdong Province. It’s a loud NO – no decent chef duly trained in Guangdong would ever cook buns like these ones – they were a total disaster in all respects. 3. Shamelessly deceptive “braised beef brisket” noodle soup: The main dish is named “Bang Sa” Braised Beef Brisket noodle soup. If you ask anyone who was born or educated in Guangdong Province, Hong Kong SAR or Macao SAR, they would tell you that “Bang Sa” beef brisket is a superior sort of its kind and features cherry-picked beef briskets. In essence, “Bang Sa” beef brisket is brisket, instead of beef tendon or skin. What did I get in the end there and then? As the photo and video clipping show below, I was presented, after a long wait of more than 30 minutes, with a teeny bowl of ropy thin noodles in muddy soup with 7 or 8 slices of over-cooked beef tendon or skin. There was NOT A SINGLE piece of beef brisket inside it, let alone any sort of “Bang Sa” one. 4. Horrendous services: I politely asked 3-4 waitresses in this restaurant about the awful food quality, only to be ignored altogether. It’s worth mentioning that it took almost 35 minutes for the aforesaid noodle soup to arrive at my table, after my 3 rounds of chasing uttered to 4 waitresses. It was a torture and disappointment, to be honest, from head to toe. No one responded. To make things worse, a lady who proclaimed herself with a poker face to be manager on site, rudely challenged my intentions with blatant questions such as “Will you not complain against us if I allow you not to pay the whole bill?” and “Will you feel any better if I charge you fees on 2 dishes out of the total 4 ones?” In response, I calmly said I never meant to do so and instead needed her explanation of the severely degraded food quality while insisting on paying the full bill. Yet she disregarded my honest plea and rushed to make me pay the bill in haste and see me out to the elevator. From start to finish, she never made an effort to answer any of my good-natured questions against the food quality issue. How could such a poorly trained lady serve the clientele in such a fancy setting? And who on earth has installed her there? If she had a modicum of culinary sense, she wouldn't do things in such an uncouth and dumb manner. I honestly think this lady’s mannerisms have indeed tainted the hard-earned reputation of Four Seasons. It seemed that she couldn’t be bothered with enquiring the chef of what happened back in the inefficient kitchen. 5. Deceptive toilet facilities: As if to make things even worse, my parents (who couldn’t bear the long waiting and later chose to go downstairs for some nibbles at your ground-floor cafe) and I all happened to notice that the toilet bowls in the lobby washroom were totally deceptive in the fact that though there are wall-mounted remote controls, none of these toilet bowls has the panel-claimed function of nozzle-operated warm-water sprinkling. In the men’s washroom, I saw each cubicle does have a wall-mounted remote control bearing the “Toto” label, yet the toilet bowls all look like sham duplications without any real washlet function. Why does a Four Seasons hotel in downtown Guangzhou have to put up a sham show by cheating its patrons in so indecent a fashion?? To conclude this writing, I would like to say that until this series of happenings, I did have quite a fond memory of my previous stays in the same hotel. When it was opened, things were kept so chic and all restaurants (I tried them all, repeatedly) were a complete delight. Over a decade has elapsed by now, as we all know, why have things plummeted to such a low level??????? Four Reasons gets to where it is through generations of hard efforts, worldwide. The Global Management could not afford to see the food quality dropping to so low standards right here. As a globetrotter who relishes good food, I cannot help lamenting and grieving Yu-Yue-Heen Restaurant’s incompetence in all material respects in Guangzhou, which is renowned globally for her gastronomical splendor.

Perfect Stay with Amazing Views and Location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I stayed at the Four Seasons Guangzhou and it was an unforgettable experience. The hotel is located in the IFC tower, offering breathtaking views of the city from the lobby and the rooms. The design is modern and elegant, and everything feels luxurious from the moment you arrive. The service was flawless – every staff member I encountered was professional, polite, and genuinely attentive. Check-in and check-out were smooth. My room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the skyline. What made my stay extra special was that when the staff knew I had a work promotion, they generously offered me an upgrade to a larger room, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Housekeeping was consistent and always left everything perfect. The spa was also a highlight – the treatments were relaxing, and the facilities immaculate. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of both international and local options, and the quality was outstanding. What I loved the most, besides the service and comfort, was the location. The hotel is directly connected to IFC Mall, so I could easily explore high-end shops, cafes, and restaurants just by walking. It was very convenient and made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, this was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had – everything was simply perfect. Highly recommended!

Four…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou. The hotel is in a beautiful location, high-rise. The receptionist was on the 70th floor for check-in. The room was very nice, with a view of the Pearl River and the Canton TV Tower. However, there was one thing that made me unhappy: the shower in my room was broken, causing water to splash on the ceiling. It was a small point, but a 5-star hotel must pay attention to the smallest things. Because customers who spend money always want the best services. Sincerely,

Ris H

🔝 Central Location across Canton Tower.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Great hotel as what would you expect from FS, stuff are great, SPA 🔝 Jessica Tong and Jenny 10 ⭐s. Hotel is central location, connected from underground with many restaurants around , K11 mall, so as station, main Metro hub station Zhujiang New Town which will connects you with the rest of the city for a lesa than a dollar per trip just 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Japanese restaurant +10 as well. Only thing I've missed from European hotels was club sandwich after the midnight. I stayed at 97th floor Premier river view, great room. Room was spacious and tidy as always with FS.
