The Capella Hanoi achieves perfection or near-perfection. First, the location is perfect - for both The French Quarter and the Old Quarter. Tons of sightseeing, restaurant and shopping options nearby as well as simply immersing yourself in Ha Noi life. Second, the public spaces and private suites are stunning in design and execution of the 1920s era concept. Every design detail is executed perfectly and the rooms are therefore a true joy to spend time in. Third, the generosity of the living room space, with its little bites, amazing coffees, afternoon complementary artisanal workshops and incredible staff is truly top 1%. The personalized culturalists curating your wntire experience is unique for an urban hotel. And critically: The breakfast too is a true joy in another jewel box of a room. A really special hotel experience that kicked off a lovely stay in Northern Vietnam.

We stayed 6 nights here and loved every minute. We ate most of our meals in the hotel. the beds was extremely comfortable. We went across the road to the Sofitel Metrapole for 2 nights after and the bed was a rock. The " my bed" is a joke they actually changed the mattress after I said I wanted to return to Capella. All the staff call you by name. Housekeeping gets it done in a wisper, never called once. They have a free 2 hour happy hour with Deutz Champagne and live music for guests, with other drinks and cocktails. There is another restaurant on the top floor with a brilliant oysters bar( wew didn't try it) but the vibe and food are great. They also have a very beautiful bar at the entrance. Imagine having your coffee made by the number one barista in all of Vietnam! Well that's the Capella for you. A special thank you must be said for Andrea the Italian chef, who most attentively took care of our special dietary needs. He was so sweet and professional and made the whole stay so much better.

I came here hoping to be blown away, but sadly we weren’t. The hotel itself is very unique and hardware and offerings are definitely high end, but service and food really miss the mark, which they need to improve since Four Seasons is coming very soon at a better location too. Service was all over the place. They even almost loaded a different guest’s luggage into our taxi. For a hotel of this caliber, I think that’s pretty careless. What if we hadn’t checked? Freebies do not make a good hotel, especially when the staff don’t know what activities are on offer, they also don’t know what canapés are offered for the day. They try to be generous but stingy at the same time, like so many things on offer but no one will bother to tell you. Also zero thoughtfulness, we were just here last January (2x in one year) and they didn’t care, maybe due to lack of competition. New GM is not doing a good job. They also need to find a way to entertain kids better for those with families as that is something Four Seasons is an expert at. The rooms are nicely decorated but the layout of the Junior Suite seems to be the most creative, with the rest feeling like your average one-bedroom apartment. The room is noisy as you can hear the street all day long. Service is too slow for my taste. They don’t make up the room until much later and every night, I’ve had to request for turndown, which is not the case in other hotels I’ve stayed at. I don’t know if it’s asking too much, but at a hotel this small, I expect my room to be made up while at breakfast and turndown while at dinner. Or is that only at an Aman? Hudson wasn’t so great. Backstage is good, but very limited offerings. They do offer all day drinks and snacks at the living room, but again, the service is extremely slow. It’s hard to get somebody’s attention. Breakfast is also extremely slow and our booking clearly says champagne breakfast but why does it feel like champagne is not available and only given upon request. Everyday I have asked at least twice for an avocado on the side, but after a 3-night stay, I never got my avocado. They pretend to be generous but very stingy in reality. Lastly, they need to improve their cocktails and deserts as none of them tasted particularly great. Great wines though! Overall, the property is beautiful, but really lacked the magic that we usually feel at high end hotels. It’s not worth it and will never come back or stay at another Capella based on this experience.

Beautiful, elegant and classy. Only stayed 1 night after my Ha Long Bay cruise before heading to Phu Quoc Island. I know now in the future I will stay at Capella when in Hanoi. Customer service was incredible everyone so friendly and professional. They upgraded us to a larger room name Drama that has a dinning room and living room. We did not even ask for the upgrade. They did not even charge us for the upgrade. So sad to have left this hotel. Bed and pillows was so soft and cozy. The rainforest shower was strong and relaxing. I just did not want to check out. I definitely will refer Capella to friends and family.

Having experienced many 5- and even 6-star properties, this was the first time I encountered such a disappointing check-in experience. Upon arrival at Capella Hanoi, when I asked for information regarding the hotel’s facilities, services, and benefits, the front desk staff simply told me to look through the iPad on my own instead of providing a proper verbal explanation. Additionally, I made my reservation through a booking partner that clearly included a USD 100 property credit as one of the benefits. However, this entitlement was never mentioned or explained during check-in. I only found out about it at the time of check-out, which was far too late to properly enjoy or make full use of the benefit. While the hotel’s design and ambiance are certainly impressive, the check-in service fell significantly short of the luxury standard that Capella represents. I sincerely hope the management will reconsider their staff training and communication process, as genuine service quality is what truly defines a five-star experience.
