Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

We like the welcome macaroon. However, we find having to stand inside the bath to take a shower not elderly friendly n safe.

This is an excellent hotel in Hanoi. It's a historical building and they offer a free tour for guests to see the storied history and the bomb shelter in the basement. Easy walk to the lake and many restaurants. Rooms are well equipped with luxurious amenities and there are many restaurants to choose from. Happy hour for guests had an amazing selection of cocktails. We stayed at the Capella next door as well and while both are great, this hotel feels very rooted in Hanoi history past and present.

The Metropole is a truly unique hotel, set in the beautiful French quarter of Hanoi. It more than lives up to its reputation of one of the most luxurious hotels in the capital, if not all of Vietnam. The staff and service was faultless, the rooms were comfortable and spacious, and the amenities (including the gym, pool, bars and restaurants) were all top-notch. The cherry on top of our stay here was undoubtedly the guided tour of the history of the hotel, which includes visiting the hotel's bomb bunker. This tour is worth doing even if you are not staying here, as it gives a great overview of the city's complex and rich history. I can't recommend Metropole highly enough to anyone visiting Hanoi. I'd love to come back someday!

This was my second stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole, and it really felt like coming back to a familiar place. The hotel has more than 120 years of history, and you can feel the colonial charm everywhere. I spent 8 days in the newly renovated Heritage Wing – a lovely mix of old-world atmosphere with just the right amount of modern comfort. The service was warm and personal, never too much, always thoughtful. There are plenty of restaurant options, each with something different to offer. My small tip: try the Opera Cake and the Vietnamese egg coffee – both were a highlight of my stay. It’s a place where I always feel at ease, and I know I’ll return again

If you like history and service in the oasis at the middle of the city, here is the place. Great renovated rooms, executive room was spacious with two rooms and a nice working area in between the two rooms. View of the pool at the courtyard and nice beds. Breakfast was served in a nice breakfast room and staffs were great. The club lounge is in the old part of the building but they serves afternoon tea and drinks in the same area near the pool as well. Go for the bunker tour and don’t forget to visit Hermes and Dior boutique just on the other side of the hotel. As the hotel is located in the French quarter of the city, you can find some brands and shopping around the hotel. And just a walking distance to the old quad and lake area.
