Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi was first opened at the turn of the 20th century by two private French investors. I didn't really enjoy my stay at the Sofitel. The " my bed " mattress they have as a point of difference. Was shockingly such a poor and hard bed that, i had to complain. Hard beds was the norm across almost every hotel we stayed in in Vietnam. I must admit the duty manager was brilliant and after the toppers didn't work. He actually got a new mattress. We found besides the fancy French resturant the hotel only had the breakfast room area to dine in that wasn't outdoors. This was a big problem for us as the Pollution level reached dangerous or a reading of 300. So we could not enjoy the outdoor lounge or pool. The staff again were brilliant and got me an air purification unit for our room. As I developed Pollution Flu and a sore throat. The staircases and public areas are very beautiful and the hallways wide and glamorous. At Christmas the courtyard was so pretty at night..unfortunately if you wish to sun-baked in winter the sun is too low and a neighbouring building blocks it. Apparently in summer this isn't a problem. The bathroom was nice, no bath but a very large walk in shower. The first room they showed us was very dark as the windows looked out at a wall. The one we accepted was very nice with double windows onto the courtyard spiral staircases. I'm not a fan of breakfast buffets. But the service was superb and they will bring you things if you ask. Their special coffee is included and is a great experience. They had live music at happy hour. I had a spa treatment and it was ok. The spa is in the new addition to the original building and it has a lot of stairs. The hotel has a lot of charm and it reminds me of my recent stay in Raffles Singapore which Accor run. This hotel was better run and had better service than Raffles. It is definitely worth a stay especially for the bunker and free tour or the war stories. Dont forget the Capella is across the road and I have a road and I have written a review of that hotel also. So you can pop across there and eat.

We had a wonderful breakfast experience at this hotel in Hanoi. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — exactly what you hope for to start the day. What truly made the visit special, though, was the incredible service. One of the staff members, Gia Bao, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, remembered our preferences, and was genuinely kind and attentive throughout our visit. That level of care makes all the difference. Highly recommend this spot for both the delicious breakfast and the amazing people who work there.

The cuisine was exceptional and truly impressive, complemented by the attentive care of the club staff, the warm welcome from the front desk, and the friendly, hospitable service at the restaurant. They never once answered “no” to any of my questions. This will certainly be my only choice if I return here in the future.

Great, comfortable room. Was upgraded to a suite, which was a nice surprise. Comfy bed. Stellar, friendly service. Hotel is in a very central location, easy to walk to the Old City and the lake.

During our stay in Vietnam, we were fortunate to have 2 stays at the Metropole and on each occasion we experienced perfection! From arrival, during and up until departure, the Hotel couldn’t be faulted. All staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and breakfast and lunchtime offered everything we wanted. Our rooms exceeded expectations and we would have stayed longer if it had been possible. A MUST revisit Hotel!! Thanks to everyone ..
