Don’t stay here unless you book an oceanfront room on a high floor

We stayed may 2024 a room with no sleep The room was beautiful after recent renovations but the air conditioning never cooled off the room the fan made a huge clicking noise on high It was directly across from elevator that serviced the whole building …..result people laughing talking continuously until about 10 pm then the heat… so no sleep The view was directly on the parking lot So no opening those doors This room should be for third party bargain customers not people spending 500 dollars a night I have had much better rooms in this hotel at resort rate SO DON’T stay in room 115 and you might want to teach your front seat people ( Lucy) a little compassion for people who have supported this hotel for over 40 yrs and had a terrible experience!!!

Unacceptable Accommodations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

My room was charged for the first night a week in advance. I reserved a luxury Oceanview Suites. I ended up in a Luxury looking at the parking lot and shed view. I found out later the desk can pull up views from each room and they knew very well they gave me the worst Suite they had. I checked in at night so they didn't think I would notice. I drove five hours and they had no other suites available. I also found out they assigned their rooms in advance so they had to assign this room with this horrible view of a shed in advance and did nothing about. Because I raised so much sand they gave me a $250 reduction the first night but refused to do anything the other nights. I checked out the next day and booked at the Westin. The Westing saved the day with their accommodations and customer service. It was my husband's first time at Hilton Head and said he was not coming back due to the experience at the Omni, but because of the stay at the Westin he now wants to come back but will never stay at the Omni Hilton Head again

Need a bit of work to truly be a luxury experience

Here are the lovely bits: - Nice view of ocean - Easy to access water - Property layout was easy to navigate Here is what I didn't like: - Mostly only kids in the pool - $40 resort fee gets you nothing really it's just an excuse to secretly charge more. It doesn't even include beach chairs which you have to pay to rent. - Don't ask the drivers for restaurant advice. They only know one or two - The rooms (we had two on two diff floors) smelled so strongly of mold we couldn't breathe. We had to light incense every day or it would return - The bathroom had blood on the wall - The poolside waiters were very rude to us; more than once they'd skip the people of color to help the white folks first - There was no adult area in the pool; be prepared to be overrun with kids. If that's what you're there for I suppose it's fine. - FYI - The bathing suits in the gift shop cost $240

A pleasant vacation

We stayed at the Omni with our family of four for a short vacation. The hotel had recently been renovated. The rooms were of a generous size and were in immaculate condition. They came with a small kitchenette area which added a lot of convenience. We felt the staff really went above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable. In particular we’d like to give shout outs to the breakfast hostess Chili and Lenore who was a waitress at HHPrime. Both of them made our kids feel right at home. The amenities including the pool and beach were also in really good condition. In terms of cons which are a little on the minor end - the pools really aren’t heated. We heard they were but honestly when we got in them they were on the chilly side. It was fine once you were in it for a little while. The dining options are a little on the limited side or at least the advertised hours of operation make it seem that way. Finally the cost of the stay is elevated and prospective guests should be aware a $40/night resort fee will be charged later. None of these things were really a surprise to us and overall we had a great stay. We would definitely return to the property!
