Don't Eat Here!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 13 hours ago

Arrival was a positive experience. We arrived before 4pm, the room ready and we were checked in immediately. Our bellhop, Charles, was very informative regarding the restaurants in the hotel and their hours. There was a book on the table and we thought it would include a hotel map and information about the amenities. It was everything you can do in the area. I had to go to the front desk and request information in the hotel. I was directed to the concierge. Also, no pen or note pad in room. In my experience, the front desk usually gives you that info when you check in or there is info in room. I understand that eating in the resort is pricey. We didn't mind pricey but, poor quality food and poor preparation was not expected. The first dinner night my partner ordered a burger. It came on a stall role and the burger was dried out. I had the chicken breast sandwich. It was slivers of dried overcooked chicken. So we sent it back. It should come out right in the first place. Breakfast was no bargain. Scrambled eggs are from liquid eggs with no taste. The sausage taken like ground pork with no seasoning stuffed into a casing. The toast was dried out and hardly any butter but only on one side. There's no extra butter or condiments on the table. You have to ask for everything. We started buying the breakfast sandwiches the bar. It's pretty sad when a McDonald's Egg McMuffin tastes better than one of their breakfast sandwiches. All bread with no taste. Thank God there was Publix and other restaurants in the area.

Great choice

Here with a group for a golf outing….only negative critique is how far my room was from the elevators🙄…we had private breakfasts each morning of our stay…food and service was excellent. Room was great…odd things: no clocks in the room and no guide on TV remote..but a great stay!

Fantastic food and grounds

Food is excellent at hotel. Staff courteous. Grounds are immaculate with fire pits, etc. and easy to get to everywhere. No renovation noise on 5th floor in my room. Nice size balcony. I would make sure you request a room NOT near a renovation based on reviews (and staff/management - you should not rent those adjoining rooms until renovation complete - it is giving the wrong impression to consumers with poor ratings that THIS PROPERTY clearly does not deserve long term! Grounds and property is perfect for wedding and/or family! (Separate adult pool is welcomed!) (housekeeping should identify as housekeeping when knocking - not just a knock as if a visitor)

WORST RESORT EXPERIENCE - UNDER RENOVATIONS

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We were very excited to have a weekend trip to Sonesta with my husband and 2 boys for their first vacation trip! Things changed very quickly once we arrived. I hotel was being renovated and i had ZERO notice about this before we arrived. Also, the front desk lady said they weren't renovating at this time but we heard banging the entire time from our room. At check in, i had to ask where the pool, beach, any events were happening. She didn't. give me any information on anything. Also, i booked a beach view and got a view of trees. The front desk lady said that was a beach view but i had no view of anything. After someone reached out to me they said the room wasn't named right and offered to move me to a beach view for our last night. As everyone knows moving all our stuff with 2 kids is not an option so i declined. She did offer me a SMALL discount of breakfast but after all of these issues we decided just to go home. I let her know and all she said was have a great day. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. Pay the extra to stay at a Marriott where you pay the same price for breakfast included, events included, and you actually get an ocean view.

Beware

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Many rooms are under construction. We paid full price, drove from a different state, and ended up next to two rooms being renovated. We were given no warning. Spent the day out in the sun just to return to a room where we couldn't relax or sleep due to hammering and banging that could be heard through the paper thin walls. The next morning, we woke up to a buzz saw at 8 am. We called the front desk to speak to the manager multiple times, and they would not get on the phone. The poor front desk person could do nothing but apologize because the manager was hiding from the situation. I escalated to customer service and only then received an email from the manager, and there was still no gesture for spending well over $300 a night to stay somewhere we couldn't rest.

My wife and I had a very good time at the Sonesta Resort at Hilton head. Everybody was very polite and helpful. If you want to thank somebody at Sonesta it would be the lady at the Front desk who was so cooperative.
