Reviews for The Peninsula Hong Kong

Something you shouldn’t miss in Hong Kong!

No one would deny that The Peninsula Hotel is the most iconic and classic hotel in Hong Kong. The ultimate success goes to its rich heritage and history, which brings the hotel to another level— it’s so much more than just a hotel. It offered me an unforgettable retreat exclusively — a haven of relaxation. The hotel stands in a prime location in the city. The MTR station is only a few-minute walk and the vibrant Tsim Sha Tsui area has everything you need: malls, eateries, museums, and the most important— Victoria Harbor! With its imposing location overlooking Victoria Harbor, The Peninsula has some of Hong Kong’s most captivating views. My worldclass experience started right after I stepped in to the hotel. There is a whole Victorian theme all over the property. The extravagant spacious grand lobby is filled with unparalleled luxury and sophistication. The decorative staircases complement the old world glamor. Our afternoon tea took place in their lobby cafe which enveloped us in an atmosphere of refined luxury. The pastries we had were fancy, premium, mouth-watering and diverse. There were also wide selections of tea (I’ve never seen any hotels offer more than 10 types of tea to choose in their afternoon tea sets like The Peninsula does). No wonder their afternoon tea is always a topic. Our server clearly presented us each of the pastry, and she was always attentive to ensure our needs. My another outstanding experience’s with Felix, which is their rooftop dining destination. It is renowned for the phenomenal, stunning and panoramic harbor views, top-notch ambience! it is an absolute must-visit. The elevators in the hotel main lobby DON’T take you there which’s really confusing. The receptionist (a nice gentleman) walked me and my cousin to another side of the hotel to use another elevator. He greeted us and had a chit chat with us with his enthusiasm who truly deserves my bringup. The whole property’s just so beautiful and nicely decorated. In some way it’s like a museum. I feel like having a historic tour there. The Peninsula Hong Kong does give me a very unique vibe. Meanwhile, the amenities also offer some luxury you can never imagine— the indoor swimming pool, upscale spa (with skilled therapists) and rooftop helipads definitely ensure the luxury. Yes, there are helicopter services! Doesn’t it surprise you? I really enjoyed my every moment with them. What a fantastic experience :)

An experience worth every penny

If luxury were a person, it would check into the Penisula Hong Kong hotel and never want to leave. From the moment you step into its elegant lobby, you are swept into a world where even the elevator ride feels like a royal rescent. The room? They are like cozy clouds in a sea of opulence, complete with views that make you forget about jet lag. So go ahead, indulge. After all, even your wallet deserves a taste of the good life

Good Service & Mediocre equipment

Enjoyed our afternoon tea very efficient and speedy service. The lobby lounge itself is a very amusing place with relaxing music playing in the background. Please don’t use this specifically made straw as it ruins the taste of the beverages and leaves a very bad smell.

Poor afternoon tea experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We were looking forward to afternoon tea at the iconic Peninsula hotel but we really shouldn't have bothered. The service was simply awful. We were "welcomed" by being told when we would need to leave the table. The table we were sat at was not even laid when we arrived. It was ages before anyone arrived with a menu for choice of tea and then, astonishingly, the waiter was unable to tell me which of the teas on the menu were green teas. He went away and then 5 minutes later came back with another tea menu which contained the same teas and he still couldn't tell me which, if any, were green teas. I chose at random and fortunately it was very pleasant. It was well over 30 minutes before we actually got anything to eat or drink. The food, when it arrived, was delicious, but unfortunately the exasperation of the preceding half hour detracted from the enjoyment.

Outstanding hotel and service.

This hotel is fantastic. I rarely write reviews, even though I travel probably 3-6 months a year, but this hotel merits the effort to write a review. I just left the hotel after a 4-Night stay. First the basics: it’s in an excellent location overlooking Victoria Harbor and the island of Hong Kong. I had a view over the harbor and the HK skyline, and could watch the Lightshow from my room - fantastic views. The room was large, well organized, with all sorts of amenities. The restaurants and food are excellent. The hotel is obviously extremely well-managed, which is apparent as soon as you pull up - it has an excellent staff, from the people working the (very busy) front door, the doormen/women, the reception and check-in, the wait staff, the housekeeping staff, the staff in the spa and pool - all very attentive, prompt, responsive and polite. But I must make a special mention of the concierge team - their service is quite simply the best I have ever experienced. From a personal tour of the hotel archives when they learned of my interest in historic hotels, to recommending and helping me plan my daily sightseeing, they were always helpful. What really blew me away though, was when I realized that I had forgotten to pack something that I needed, and asked if they could tell me where I could go to a pharmacy to find it. It turns out this item is not used in Hong Kong and is difficult to find, so the concierge staff diligently researched, then went and got the item and delivered it to my room. I hadn’t asked them to do this, nor expected it. That is the level of service that The Peninsula provides. It is simply top-notch, and they set the standard. Thank you, Peninsula, for an outstanding stay!

I have traveled throughout the world, and I have never had a better experience anywhere than at the Peninsula in Hong Kong. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived. The use of the hotel’s Rolls Royce, which I used to pick my husband up from the airport, was incredible icing on the cake.
