The Upper House is a highly individualized small luxury hotel designed by Hong Kong architect Andre Fu. The hotel’s 117 rooms including 21 suites and 2 penthouses, start at 730 square feet, the largest in Hong Kong. Rooms and suites feature wonderfully spacious bathrooms and dressing areas, and offer either scenic harbour or island views. Calming and contemporary, the rooms are designed to provide a sense of relaxation, warmth and understated luxury. Bespoke service, well-crafted natural materials and a design aesthetic based around the ‘Upward Journey’ creates a timeless serenity that flows through the different rooms of our House.

The whole experience was wonderful. From planning where I communicated with staff via email arranging all the bookings for restaurants and arrangements for the room decoration and flower delivery. Staffs were extremely helpful throughout the process. Everything about the hotel is just wonderful. Room was big and clean, ro service was also on point given that they cleaned our room even we were just out for breakfast. Would definitely visit agin.

I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. The bed was exceptionally comfortable—honestly one of the best I’ve ever experienced—which made it incredibly easy to relax and get a great night’s sleep. What stood out even more was the staff. They were incredibly thoughtful and attentive, always making sure that guests could fully unwind and enjoy their stay without any stress. Their genuine care and professionalism made a big difference. A particularly memorable moment was the surprise birthday cake they prepared for me. It was such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture that made my stay even more special. Special thanks to Sharon for for taking such a good care of me and adding that extra special something to make the stay truly wonderful.

Wonderful boutique hotel on the Hong Kong side with oversized large rooms finished in warm wood tones. The shower and tub may have the best city view ever. Extra large changing area which allows you to unpack and store your items. Lovely touch of a gift from the manager upon arrival. Only drawbacks are the amount of light switches to figure out (why does it get more complicated the more luxurious the hotel is), the small size of the gym (it is the same same size of the room that has been outfitted with the gym) and no pool. Special shout out to Sharon the senior guest liaison manager who gave excellent recommendations on where to eat and get a spa treatment (among questions I put to her). She is one of these knowledgeable / understands the client experience type of front staff members. We were chatting about skin care products and she even gifted me some of her favourite Korean skin care masks. Doesn’t get better than that! A worthwhile stay. I have previously stayed at the MO in HK on personal visits. But I would return to the Upper House.

The Upper House is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The rooms are fantastic, spacious, and very well designed. I highly recommend not missing out on the view of the bay. The breakfast is served at the table and is of very high quality, which I really appreciate. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to eat in the restaurant; we just had some great drinks at the bar. It’s a shame that Hong Kong and Berlin are so far apart. I would love to come back

So this is a very nicely designed hotel but with, IMHO, some flaws. The plusses are great breakfast food, lots of window space in both bed and bathroom, large bathrooms, and it has to be said great interior design. But having said that the hotel is very pricey and the entrance is rather underwhelming - there's not much space to sit outside the room to relax if the library is being used for an event as it was during our stay, as the tea shop is small and there is a very loud escalator next to it. You can have harbour views but they are literally nothing compared to the upper floors of the Peninsula or Rosewood so if you want views stay in Kowloon looking to HK Island - not the fault of UH of course. The staff often seem to be busy doing their own thing (they were having a meeting this morning for example at reception in the open) and when we checked in it seems quite chaotic. All in all it's a nice hotel but pricey with limited facilities (no pool, not much space outside the room). It is very highly rated by others, but sadly just didn't click for us; we thought we'd like it more. It you get a good price and you like the idea of a very large bath and dressing area maybe it is for you.
