At the beginning of our trip, we stayed in a standard room, which was excellent and well appointed and it has a partial ocean view framed by the surrounding buildings. We appreciate how the staff at the reception desk walked us to our room. On our second leg of the trip, we checked into Diamond Head oceanfront room and fell into a completely different existence. It made us feel as if we shouldn't stay anywhere that didn't have an ocean view! We're morning folks so we start our day early and that also means we are exhausted by the afternoon. But here, we get to return to a room with such a gorgeous view of the ocean, like straight out of a postcard. Sitting out on the balcony, looking out into the vast ocean framed by Diamond Head on one side, watching tiny surfers and crashing waves in the distance; it will all lull you to sleep in a truly wonderful way. In the evenings, the sound of soothing Hawaiian music from the live band at one of the restaurants at the hotel adds a relaxing touch. The hotel offers a small private beach that guests can enjoy, as well as fully staffed, never crowded pool lounge area. I also tried the room service, which was amazing. On our first try, we ordered out of convenience more than anything else but we were pleasantly surprised by the high quality, fine dining experience we received from the food that was served. Then we tried it for dinner on our balcony with the ocean view and it was one of the most wonderful dinners we ever had. The staff all around, from the valet to the reception, room service, the pool staff, cleaning staff, you name it; they were all friendly, smiling folks ready to assist in anyway they could. Thanks for being part of a marvelous vacation! You'll find that Oahu is beautiful everywhere; make sure to drive around the island. Take advantage of the jet leg and visit the popular places and the hidden gems in the morning, then come back to this hotel to rest and recuparate at your balcony with the ocean view or at the pool/private beach and you will experience the meaning of a truly luxurious vacation.

This resort is a 5 star experience. It is not a "party" hotel but a sophisticated resort. We enjoyed their extensive breakfast buffet, their Sunday Brunch and fine dining at La Mer. Many families enjoyed the pool and every evening was different music at the pool area. The concierge team was exceptional in helping me research and book excursions, dinner reservations and setting up an itinerary. With a 6 hour time difference, they were prompt, gave helpful suggestions and took care of so many of the details. This is not a beach hotel, however, there is a beach area at a nearby park within walking distance. I loved the daily morning exercise classes they offered. The valet was prompt in bringing our car around and was so friendly. When we needed service in the room, help was sent immediately. We enjoyed spa services and relaxed in the outdoor lounge area. The service providers were knowledgeable and did a great job for both my husband and me. We drove around the area comparing hotels and didn't see any as beautiful as this. We ate at fine dining locations across the area. Several were at other hotels that were on the beach but shared the beach with other hotels so it was noisy and crowded. We didn't experience that at Halekulani's fine dining, La Mer. I would highly recommend this for couples or a girlfriend getaway.

I’ve stayed at this hotel three times. The staff are incredibly well trained. They are helpful & kind. The location is hard to beat - while Kalakaua BLD is hot & heaving, the Halekulani is an oasis of cool & quiet.

This is an amazing hotel. Service is top notch, understated luxury, beautiful grounds, right in the heart of Waikiki but feels to be secluded once you step through the lobby. I very much appreciated that I never had an issue getting a chair/lounger by the pool. There is a beautiful Jazz club and a specialty cocktail bar one of the restaurants. Appreciated the live music and entertainment nightly under a beautiful tree with a backdrop of the ocean.

DO NOT STAY HERE! First and most importantly, management seems to look the other way and does not take responsibility when petty thefts occur from their guest rooms. Secondly, the food service is mediocre at best, with servers who are slow and generally can’t be bothered by you. Third, be prepared to pay 50% more for everything and for the right to be treated as an imposter. We spent $10k for three nights and had $5k of jewelry stolen from our room while we were downstairs having dinner . The hotel accepted no responsibility for our loss. Shame on them.

We just returned from five nights at the Halekulani in Honolulu and it was incredible. The hotel, food, service and staff were wonderful… From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, the staff could not do enough for us.

I have traveled to the Hawaiian islands many times and stayed in fine hotels on five Hawaiian islands, but never in all my experience have I encountered such remarkable guest service, hospitality, warmth, and consistent excellence that at Halekulani. At all times, guests are greeted by name by everyone. Any guest request or preference is accommodated immediately, and noted for the future. We were treated like celebrities... This hotel, from start to finish, is simply a class act.

We are accustomed to staying in luxury accommodations, yet the beauty of the Halekulani hotel was breathtaking. We were stunned by the warm, outstanding service. No effort was too great to assure our comfort!! Our every desire was satisfied. We were positively delighted by the romance and perfection of La Mer restaurant and the outrageous pampering spa services we received.

My wife and I this past December, 2004, stayed at the Halekulani Hotel in Hawaii. The trip was wonderful. The hotel was beautiful and serene, and the service at the hotel was unlike any we have experienced. I would recommend this trip to anyone.
