Reviews for Movenpick Asara Resort & Spa Hua Hin

Comfortable stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

My recent stay here was comfortable. The hotel exudes a cozy atmosphere that is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet. We really liked the food at Baan dum and very much appreciated K.Jiew, who takes care of us during our dinner. We would like to shout out for K.Tai, K.Teya, and K.Aor at Asara Spa since we arrived at the spa they were very warm welcome, and the massage was great, relaxed, and comfortable. I recommend who is looking for the best spa in Hua Hin. Asara Spa is the best. Thank you to K.Nok during check out for her kindness and listen to us with understanding for some experience during our stay. Overall, we are satisfied and enjoyed our stay here. Will come back

Terrible service and racist staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

The hotel staff have no training. They have no idea how to serve customers with respect while claiming to be a 5 star hotel. The resort is average but the service staff to check in staff are very poor with their service skills. Only a handful spoke English and the rest were surviving on their basic few words of English. I would not recommend this hotel as 5 star based on my experience. When we arrived at check in, I was given a parking view room even though I paid specifically for a junior suite with a pool view. The lady lied saying the hotel was fully booked and then magically moved us to another room with a partial pool view within minutes after refusing to stay in a parking view room. The next morning I was then offered to another better pool view room. The first night we dined at the Baan Dum restaurant where we were served with pre cooked food. The service staff could not speak English or understand basic orders. I was served cold spring rolls and the staff had eye rolls because they were facing staff shortages. At the breakfast, during peak time, the service staff could not handle the pressure . There were no juice glasses nor they had any system going on to deal with customers. The food was never replenished and we had to constant ask for things. The staff had no smiles but only eye roles. At no time I felt like a valued customer because they preferred to deal with “ white “ customers. We met a lovely F and B Manager, Lita who was the only saving grace. Things got a bit better after we highlighted some service failures. The service got little better but nothing to rave about. On one night we had dinner at restaurant and wait staff forgot our order and there were only 4 diners in the restaurant. When we waited for more than 30 minutes , the wait staff Mathew blamed me saying you did not order. The hotel also runs a chocolate hour between 4-5 pm which the kids would like but there are no hot drinks included. There is a basic gym which did the job. The bar located near the pool had happy hour which had a nice view. The swimming pool was not clean. I saw tadpoles and frogs swimming in and out. The only positives were the rooms were clean and food was ok. As a Silver member, I did not feel valued or welcome. The welcome drink voucher was useless as they only had limited options and no beer or wine. We did not even use it. As we checked out, a staff member came to check our room if we were stealing hotel property. I had given laundry for dry cleaning and it was returned to my room in a laundry bag. At check out, they asked me to return the laundry bag or pay THB200 to retain it. This is the attitude of the hotel. Why return the laundry in a laundry bag if you expect that to be returned back to the hotel. The check out staff who was a young man had no interest in talking to us and totally ignored us. He said it was his first day at work back and had no enthusiasm. Overall, the hotel is not worth its hype and there are better options around the same area. Take your business to another hotel chain as clearly the GM is not interested in training or improving the services. If you value basic human interactions and pleasant smiling and happy staff who are well trained and professional stay away from Movenpick. This hotel is a disgrace to the brand.

Here I have checked in today only and guest service is so poor their treatment towards guest their behaviour … first of all person who escorted us to the room was in so hurry that she could not explain all the amenities of presidential suite and also not even told how Wi-Fi is going to connected as here there is a network issue secondly I was expecting some welcome desserts which they sent me non veg though I am vegetarian and noted to them as well not only that I asked the person through google translator whether the things are veg he nodes yes though there was shrimp in it thirdly went to beach pool bar person was as if I am a brown skin and not going to pay he was serving snacks to other guests but dint serve us then he was like this the price that is the price …. More over I informed the guest apprentice for the same and they simply said sorry on phone and offered me wine which I obviously denied as dint see gestures were with any difference … will review more after checkout for sure ….till now not recommended for brown skins or luxury room guests…

How many stars ????

The property & gardens are lovely all be it VERY isolated . Front of house staff are excellent and that is as far as it goes . Restaurant and bar staff are few and far between and then completely uninterested and hopeless . Management is non existent at best . I can’t describe how bad & disappointing this was .

A Great Holiday

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We had 8 nights at this resort and have nothing but praise for the holiday they gave us.The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. We were quite a way from the amenities but a call to reception and a buggy was there to transport us to where we needed to go.The meals were very good and the bar service was excellent. We tried the shuttle into Hua Hin but the drop off point was a long way to either Market place or Bluport. We found it easier to get a taxi (200 baht). A special mention to Oam who was in charge at breakfast and was so helpful. The pools were great and we mainly used the small pool near our accomodation as it wasn't as busy as the main area.We were very happy with our rooms and they were serviced excellently. We had a rather unfortunate experience at Baan Dum restauraunt so I have reviewed it separately. The only thing I could suggest the management should look at in this resort is that hand rails are badly needed at the main front stairs and in the pools. Would we recommend this resort?.Most definitely and would stay here again.
