Belmond Hotel das Cataratas

Having booked several hotels across the world I am a bit disappointed at their handling of my booking. We are two Adults, one child (6y) and recently have an infant as well. The hotel policy allows one extra bed for my child (6y) complimentary as do most hotels for families. However, as we also have an infant who co-sleeps with us in our bed (and does not require an extra bed) Belmond has decided to add another $500 to our stay to 'accommodate' the infant. I haven't had this issue at any hotel and would be more than happy to pay for an extra bed if that is what we needed. Paying $500 for my 2 year old to co-sleep with us sounds like a ridiculous interpretation of their policy. They also offered us a second room (i.e. double the price) but I have explained it is pointless as no-one will use it! Disappointed with the service.

Hotel was beautiful, decor very Portuguese our room and bathroom was very pretty, definitely a wow when we walked in. Window in our room looked across at the falls, perfect, great facilities pool, restaurant and a wonderful tower you must visit for amazing views. Staff were all wonderful and very professional and helpful.

The location, meaning you can walk to the spectacular Iguassi falls, is outstanding. Even better being inside the national park, you can see the falls easily and quietly before the masses of coachloads arrive. The hotel is a lovely building with real character and comfort, and the staff are outstanding. Expensive, but as a one off well worth it.

Everything is great that meeting the expectations, the house keeping is super which always ensures a comfortable stay. The hair dryer in my room was damaged which I suppose should be checked and fix in advance.

We loved every aspect of our stay. The hotel staff were the best in the business and the location is beautiful and facilities excellent. The food selection and quality are top notch. We want to plan another visit to Brazil, if only to stay at the Iguacu Belmond again.
