From the moment we arrived, it was clear that we going to be very well looked after at Ness Walk, and that set the tone for a luxurious and very relaxing stay. The concierge met us in the driveway and took our cases in, and we had a welcome drink in our hands and were watching the River Ness flowing by whilst the reception staff checked us in. Our cases were taken up to our room ahead of us. We really didn't need to lift a finger - easy. Location is perfect. Only a very short walk to the centre of Inverness (although nothing's very far from anything else in 'Inversneckie', it's not a big place!) so it was simple to walk down by the banks of the Ness to go to the shops, have a drink in town, or whatever. Ness Walk hotel sits in plenty of space and with the road outside being prioritised for people (on bikes or on foot) rather than vehicles (although still accessible by car), it's in a calm space by design. Room was very comfortable with plenty of space, no noise from adjacent rooms, options for setting temperature (aircon or open the windows), blackout blinds, separate bath and shower in sizeable bathroom, and very comfortable mattress on the bed. We enjoyed having the windows slightly open to hear the birdsong in the morning. There were a couple of quirks with the room, one being that the powered windows didn't open as they should. No problem, they can be opened manually. More unusual was the arrangements with the lights - if you wanted to switch off the light in the lobby as you entered the room, this also killed the bedside lamps. Most odd - I've never known a hotel to be wired this way before. Worse, the bedside lamps are in round-pin plug sockets, i.e. not standard UK plugs. Why?!! Again, this can be solved - the pained expression of the reception staff suggested I wasn't by any means the first person to take issue with this, and they arranged for us to get a UK plug adaptor to plug the bedside lights into the regular sockets and therefore make them independent of the overhead room lights, as they should always be. Anyway, not a huge gripe, but an awkward oddity. The in-house Torrish restaurant was very good and I especially enjoyed my steak for main course. I felt the curried flavours rather overwhelmed the scallops I had for starter however. Overall, recommended, and with a wee bit of room for improvement. All of the staff were very helpful although we did have 3 of the bar staff asking us if we were ready to order, one after the other, where a bit of coordination on their part might've allowed the first person to come back after a couple of minutes. The issues I've mentioned above are very minor and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as the premier place to stay in Inverness (and I've tried a good few) - excellent location, helpful staff, good food and very comfortable rooms in a relaxing location.
