Reviews for Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet

If you ever want to splurge, this is the place

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I read somewhere recently that this hotel was ranked "best hotel in the world". Those rankings are always a bit ridiculous, because how can you possibly compare, but that being said, I wouldn't argue against this being the best hotel in the world. Yes, it's very expensive to stay here, but the overall experience is magical. First of all, the location is insane. It's a 5 minute walk, if you walk slowly, to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and the Topkapi Palace. In spite of being in the middle of all the major tourist attractions, the hotel is down a side street, and it's very quiet and pleasant. Staff are amazing, typical of Four Seasons. Concierge was amazingly helpful. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Spa was excellent. Breakfast was very good. The onsite restaurant was nice, nothing fancy, but the food was good. It looks like they have a rooftop bar area, but it was closed while we were there, even though the weather would have been perfect for it to be open for lunch, or even at night with some heaters. The view would be spectacular, and I didn't really understand why that space was unused. About the rooms, one great thing was the lighting and controls were perfectly intuitive and easy to use. It's a pet peeve of mine when it takes me an hour to figure out how to turn a light on or off. One quibble about the room is the AC didn't work well. I like the room cool at night for sleeping, but even with the AC set on max cool, and it not being very warm outside, it felt like it was just blowing air around not cooling it. The temperature in the room never went down. I have a feeling they turn off the AC condensers to save energy unless it's hot outside in summer. That's common in Europe, but I wish I could have made the room cooler at night. Anyway, I loved staying here and look forward to returning!

When you splurge…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Not many people review hotels on TripAdvisor like the FourSeasons because those types of hotels don’t cater to persons looking for value. Still someone has to give credit when due. The hotel is great. The staff is incredible. The location is convenient for tourism. The attention to detail is what you would expect. It’s just a different level of experience. No person should regularly stay at hotels such as these because they have a tendency to make one lose perspective. Still, once in a great while when you do treat yourself you want to be satisfied. Four seasons Sultanahmet is exceptional. Would highly recommend.

Memorable stay

I truly enjoyed ourselves. This is a birthday trip planned for my partner. Istanbul has always been on our list of travels. The Four Seasons at Sultanahmet is truly recommended as the full suite of sights are within a walking distance… the Haga Sophia, cistern and Topkapi Palace are merely a stone throw away… most convenient place to stay if a tourist. I had a good bath at the hamman 3 mins walk away. Good experience I must say. Would definitely return if I’m ever visiting the city again. Staff very friendly and helpful. Feels like home away from home.

Best Hotel in Istanbul

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

For me this is easily the best hotel in Istanbul's Sultanahmet area, arguably in the whole of Istanbul and probably in the world that is why it was voted the world's best hotel by Travel & Leisure readers. Service is beyond excellent. All the staff from the concierge to front desk to housekeeping to F&B were extra attentive and offered their best. Turndown and in-room services were quick and flawless. Location is the best thing about this hotel being a stone's throw away from iconic sights such as Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Topkapi Palace, an area that is ultra safe at night because it is heavily guarded and monitored. The room gave us the best sleeping experience we had in a long time from the bed to the pillows to the duvet to total darkness to the soundproofing (helped by our mobile speaker playing sleeping music to drown the first Muslim call for prayer for the day). I could not wait to stay in this venerable hotel again.

It was our first trip to Istanbul, and the Four Seasons Sultanahmet made our stay that much more special. The staff are second to none. They truly treat you like royalty. The property is gorgeous, and the location is exceptional. We cannot wait for our next trip.
