Most impressive hotel property I have seen in my life which was supplemented by a really royal experience right from check-in to check out Thanks to Alka, Shweta, Malvika, and Nishu for making the entire stay like a breeze for us, for our room upgrade and surprising us with the anniversary celebrations in the room. Kudos to chef Kush and the servers in Risala for always being there to oblige us. Kush was a pleasure to talk to when it came to discussing food. Siddiqui was a walking encyclopedia on the palace history. While, Harshit was always around smiling and anticipating our asks. This was a real à la carte on demand. Finally, thanks t Chetan for acting as our personal photographer on the trip who was always ready to suggest the best spots and locations in the palace.

From the moment you arrive at the breathtaking Umaid Bhawan Palace you know you are somewhere unique and special. Met by Gaurav and the ever-smiling Alka along with red carpet, rose petals and music. An arrival fit for for a Maharaja and Maharani entering the most wonderful domed building. Our butler Sikander took care of our every need and made this a very special occasion with Mohammed and others. We had guided tours of the palace and the museum a special dinner and even planted a tree! Even though our butler from previous occasions Mr Swaroop was on leave he was still regularly in touch and orchestrating procedures from a distance, such is the commitment of staff at Umaid Bhawan Palace! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and even afternoon tea were very well catered for in Rizala restaurant (outdoor Pillars was not in use due to the searing heat).Restaurant and bar staff including Gordhan, Mahaveer, Saddique, Yakub, Aman, Kapil and Esther (keep going with the Hindi -it sounded good to us!) would make sure sure that you could be neither hungry nor thirsty. A really important point to note here is that I have recently been diagnosed as coeliac, so any brush with gluten would simply ruin my entire holiday. Thankfully the fantastic Chef Kush, his team and the waiting staff all ensured that there was no possibility of this (including a delicious gluten free birthday cake!). The rooms are beautifully decorated with the finest Rajasthani style and incredibly clean, Narayan from room services even gave us both a foot Spa in our room! And the spa staff, led by the wonderful Mr Ankush gave us a great massage. You get the feeling that all of the staff here (including the small army of gardeners, cleaners, kitchen staff, porters and security) are driven to make sure that you have the most incredible stay in one of the worlds finest locations. Oh…and did I mention the peacocks?
