Teasing sparkling sea views over Choeng Mon Beach, Kimpton Kitalay Samui channels the island’s tropical charm with 138 rooms, suites and villas. In this village-like island enclave, we invite you to embrace the spirit of a community inspired by the sea. Feel revitalized by five bold and inventive restaurants and bars, a spa influenced by Thai wellness with a welcomed modern twist, and our relaxing, palm-shaded pools. Explore the island on a fat-tire bicycle, and listen to island lore in the Lanai Coves. After all, Kita means ‘song’ in Thai, and lay is a reference to the seafaring Chao Lay people of Thailand. Together, Kitalay conveys the meaning of ‘the song of the Lay people’ – a tribute to the community spirit native to the milieu. It is this easy balance of nonchalance and detail that we call island living, the Kimpton Kitalay Samui way.

Kimpton Kitalay Samui is undoubtedly a five star hotel, with stunning design, attractive coastal scenery and thoughtfully executed interiors. The aesthetics clearly contribute to the hotel’s reputation, and the property offers a high level of comfort. For me personally, being very tired on arrival and not being able to freshen up until standard check in left me frustrated, even though the rest of the stay was very enjoyable. I arrived earlier than planned due to an internal flight, which the hotel had been informed of in advance. While I understood that early check in could not be guaranteed due to high occupancy, there was limited effort to offer alternatives or flexibility. I was advised that standard check in was at 3.00 p.m. and received my room shortly after 2.15 p.m., which was acceptable, though at that point I was eager to rest and freshen up. The room itself was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. My arrival coincided with poor weather, and during this time the in room entertainment felt quite limited for a resort of this standard. While Chromecast is available, the television offering was fairly basic compared with other hotels in a similar price range. Breakfast was varied, offering a mix of local and Western cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the replica street food stalls, which were a nice touch. While the selection was good and catered to different preferences, it did not quite stand out as exceptional for a hotel of this level. The hotel beach was not great, with some washed up rubbish along the shore. I appreciate that this is not the hotel’s fault, but it did affect the overall beachfront experience. On a positive note, the staff were friendly, professional and welcoming. Each evening, returning to the room to find a small handwritten note with a thoughtful treat such as a face mask or biscuit was a particularly nice touch and showed genuine attention to detail. That said, service could have been a bit more consistent; on one occasion, I requested a beach bed several times and two members of staff acknowledged me but did not follow up. The hotel also benefits from a convenient location with a good range of nearby facilities. In conclusion, Kimpton Kitalay Samui is a beautiful and enjoyable five star resort with many strengths. While the hotel is visually impressive and the service is generally excellent, a few areas could be enhanced to better match the expectations of a premium stay.

Stayed in a villa. Great food and facilities. Nai was our concierge, she was AMAZING. Kwan and staff made sure we had an amazing dining experience and went above and beyond to get us thai meals we wanted to try! Happy hour was delightful touch and most of our thailand shopping was result of purchasing their curated selection of room amenities (robes, sandals, etc).

From airport transfer to check in/out, all was a smooth and excellent process n this is our 2nd time as the first experience was awesome! This trip is make even better with the little things they put in the room that makes my 5 years old so happy (teepee , soft toys, sand play). Nai is super helpful n takes good care of our needs n surprises for my girl in the room (which she looks forward to every night!) Breakfast was good spread, pool is big enough and plenty of loungers to just relax. There’s also fire show on certain night which is amazing!! A big shout out to the Kids club team Kratae, Goong and Eve! You make the trip so special for our girl and she looks forward to the kids club every day and thank u for taking time to play with her! They are so patient with all the kids and very alert! Whenever someone cry, I notice they are very alert n just stopped whatever they are doing to check what happened. We hope to be back soon again and thank you Paul and the team once again for creating such beautiful memories for our family. We will definitely be back!

5 stars to all of the wonderful, gorgeous staff. Loved being greeted by Film (a true gem who handled our questions and feedback beautifully), the bartenders were top notch, the pool and beach staff, Kop, Kaw and Juicy were all superb. Kwan helped us during breakfast and is downright AMAZING. I will miss them all, dearly. I wanted to notify people that if you decide to stay here, please note it is one of the few resorts that allow children. Most of the children we saw were poorly behaved and ill-mannered. Please note that there are times that you may experience Euro trash. A lot of fake social media influencers, mostly Russian and Israeli who waste a lot of time taking pictures by the pool, treat the staff poorly, act obnoxiously during the Social Hour and in the restaurants and let their children run around like wild javelinas. It takes patience since the hotel leans into the idea of being "kid-friendly" with renting nannies and having a day care area. I would pay double the rate next time if they stopped allowing anyone under 18 years old.
