Reviews for Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa

Ridiculously over-priced for what it is.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I'm just returning from a week at Grand Hyatt and I am very relieved it wasnt my money. I was lucky enough to go as a work "reward". As one of the other recent reveiwers notes, we were well over half the hotel and I that would be very obvious to anyone not in the group. Other reviewers have mentioned staff; I found a lot kept their eyes down and werent as friendly as they perhaps have been in reviews from years gone by. Now lets address cost - at a minimum of about $900 a night, and small suites being TWICE this, this is an extremely expensive hotel. That price isnt all inclusive. I've stayed in private game reserves in Africa with a chef, ranger, michelin food and drink for half the cost of this place. Buffet breakfast? $54. Before tip. Want a sun-lunger under a gazebo? Oh, another $150 please. Rooms are spacious but dated. This hotel looks out to the sea and could be anywhere. There is zero flexibility on check-out, not even an extar hour, despite my company having spent a fortune on 200+ rooms for a week. You can do better.

Amazing Stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This is by far the most beautiful resort we've ever stayed at! The hotel completely exceeded our expectations for our honeymoon. The room, spa, restaurants, pools were all amazing. My only recommendation for travelers is to explore the food and drink options off the hotel property. The food and drinks were amazing here but are very expensive. We found great food at places like the Masubi food truck, Da crack Mexican food, and happy hour at Kalapaki Joes which is about a mile from the resort. I can't recommend staying at this resort enough! It is absolutely worth the money and is nicely locate in Poipu.

Caters to conventions; ignores everyone else

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

I’m writing this on the first night of my fourth stay at GHK. The resort is overrun by a convention. Multiple areas of the resort are off-limits to other guests, sales bros are everywhere, and loud bands play for hours. There is no aloha or peace. Anyone not part of the convention is essentially an afterthought and a second-class guest. I’m heartbroken to write this because GHK has been one of my favorites for years. Planning a special personal trip or a honeymoon? This isn’t the place.

Truly the best aloha in Kauai

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Justin and Cindi and the rest of the team in the Grand Lounge are exceptional; friendly, professional, kind … the epitome of Aloha. Ana and Victoria are joyful and heartwarming. The resort is a beautiful Grant Hyatt and could really be anywhere in the world … except for the aloha of the wonderful people that make it truly Hawaiian. Mahalo!

I spent a week at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and it is an exceptional hotel. The hotel looks like it was built into the side of a large hill on the Pacific. The service was excellent our entire seven days.
