Ace Hotel Kyoto lives in a part new build and part historic structure that was once home to a beloved landmark telephone company, designed in partnership with our longtime friends Commune Design and the legendary architect Kengo Kuma. Our first hotel in Asia, Ace Hotel Kyoto lives in the cultural epicenter of Japan, a place revered for its abundance of art, craft and nature.

The hotel has a subway station close by, so it's super easy to get around. The hotel is situated in a cool building with other shops and restaurants located inside. The vibe of the hotel is cool, and it can get a bit loud in the evenings with the DJ playing; however, the rooms are really quiet. The rooms are fine and have the essentials. The staff in the restaurant really make the experience worthwhile, and the food was nice. Overall, the stay was nice, and the location would be the reason for choosing this hotel.

Vibey hotel with super trendy and classic design attached to a small shopping center. It has a cafe and two restaurants and Japanese breakfast was amazing! The check in experience leaves a lot to be desired where is the Japanese hospitality??

Excellent location. There are lots of shops and restaurants close by. But for the hotel price, I would like to choose a Japanese brand hotel which might offer better amenities and breakfasts.

The Ace Kyoto is one of the most beautiful complexes we’ve ever stayed in, which sets the tone for a relaxing & elevated visit to Kyoto. Rooms are spacious & comfortable, there are more amenities & things to do on site then you’ll likely have time to get through in one stay, and it’s well located to great sites around town. Staff is friendly & attentive too. And the value for the price is the best part - feels luxury at more boutique pricing.

Ace feels so Americanized it might as well be an embassy. Just like the one in Manhattan, this Ace was spotless, stylish, and buzzing with young adults glued to their iToks, Instagrindr, and FaceTiks. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful—even when we rolled back in with our bikes way past the return time. (Bike rentals are free, by the way. All you do is sign an iPad waiver promising not to sue them if you run over a baby octopus with a quail egg head.) Speaking of which, if you don't want to Nishiki Market (which closes at six pm), there are a few restaurants on-site, though we only checked out the rooftop bar. It was nice... just not quite as rooftoppy as we hoped. We really liked our room: comfy bed, glass-walled shower next to the tub, free water, and a record player. You can borrow records downstairs—I grabbed a Japanese pressing of A Hard Day’s Night and Rubycon by Tangerine Dream so I could pretend I was cool, to make up for the Donna Summer's greatest hits hidden underneath.
