Reviews for Ace Hotel Kyoto

Best Hotel in Kyoto

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This hotel had one of the best service levels I’ve ever experienced. Super friendly and knowledgeable about Kyoto, cool building and great vibe. Best place to stay in Kyoto.

Ace Kyoto Visit

Ace Kyoto is a nice property. Very modern, great vibe, friendly staff and comfortable beds. Breakfast was outstanding and dinner restaurants were all very good. Good location to visit area attractions. Highly recommend.

Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This hotel just missed the mark. Location isn't exactly ideal other than being close to main Kyoto station and convenient underground access close to the hotel. But it is set away from the main hot spots by the river. After long days of sightseeing, getting back to the hotel started being a chore and we started regretting booking it. Rooms are average given the high cost. The lighting was absolutely awful and inadequate. Rooms have tiny light bulbs and just didn't provide sufficient light. I had to use my phone's flashlight just to see what was in my luggage. Lighting gets a F and they really need to address this flaw in future remodels. Breakfast was overpriced, the lobby seemed to cater to remote workers not staying at the hotel as it was always filled with folks with laptops working away. It felt like coming to an office building than an exclusive hotel reserved for guests. Service was good and the public areas were decent but that's all that was OK about this property. There are far better choices in the immediate area. This one just missed the mark on many levels.
