The best. Gorgeous hotel (architecture is incredible). We had a really nice sized room with comfy beds. Stumptown coffee in the lobby. Incredibly, nice helpful staff that goes above and beyond, and hotel smells great. Train station right below. Truly one of my fave hotels in the world.

It’s a great time to visit Japan- the dollar’s strength makes everything from accommodation to food to activities very affordable for Americans. And when you’ve experienced the old world charm of traditional royakans (which you MUST do), and you’re ready for some east meets west urban chic, this is your stop. We were SO happy we spent 4 nights at the Ace Hotel, Kyoto. The fun and funky vibe is evident from the Photo Booth in the lobby, the art on the walls (we even saw a demonstration by a renowned origami artist making giant animals) and the sleek bar. Our rooms were super comfortable and quiet (never heard another guest) and the bathrooms are deluxe. We loved the workout room (well equipped and has a view of the verdant courtyard), and the breakfast (included) was fantastic (we were ready for some top-notch avocado toast after 10 days of more traditional breakfasts). But what really puts the hotel OVER THE TOP is the service! Everyone we had contact with was incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful (raining? grab a complimentary umbrella and the staff will call you a cab). Need a last-minute dinner reservation? Check. We left our personal chopsticks behind at a restaurant one night, and before we even realized they were missing, there was a note under our door and they were waiting at the lobby desk. Incredible! Assistant Ops Manager Eric Zmolek leads the staff by example. Perhaps THE best hotel service we’ve ever seen. And fun. Not stuffy. Grab an album from the collection and enjoy on the turntable in your room. This is a convenient city location surrounded by so much greenery you’ll think you’re in the country. I’m recommending to everyone I know visiting Japan. Don’t miss!

We went as a family to the ACE hotel in Kyoto and it was fantastic. The lobby is art filled and beautiful, each space accommodating and comfortable. The restaurants are very good and also beautiful. The breakfast area was our favorite with incredible garden views. We loved our rooms - we had a king room and our daughters had a triple. The rooms were decorated in beautiful colors and fabrics and they had record players in each room which was a very cool aspect. The hotel is centrally located and very easy to get to from anywhere. The staff was kind and helpful throughout our stay. We absolutely loved this hotel and we cannot wait to visit again!

Great hotel in Kyoto, spacious and well appointed rooms, centrally located, multi-lingual staff, excellent restaurants, nice touch with the record players in the room.

Our stay at the Ace Hotel was quite comfortable - room was spacious, beds were comfortable and the location was great (~20 min walk to Gion district and in a more 'local' area). However, we found the service to be lacking any warmth. The front desk staff was transactional, especially when compared to two excellent hotels of a similar category we stayed in across Japan prior to arriving in Kyoto. They made basic things like pre-booking cars or taxis to be a complicated process and we ended up booking our own transportation most of the time. Breakfast, while delicious, took ages each morning even though we arrived around 7.30/8 am when it was not crowded and ordered ready meals like yogurt bowls. Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again if I visited Kyoto, not because of the facilities (which were good) but because I feel you can can get much better experience overall elsewhere.
