If we could award more than 5 stars we would. We’ve stayed at many elite hotels around the world . This is one of our three favorites. Hotel property on the outside is a Japanese garden, complete with a tea house, pagodas, koi, and a beautiful resident heron . Inside is immaculate and wondrous. The rooms are up to date and beyond comfortable. The food service is excellent. Outstanding breakfast. We dive into a shared Japanese dry age t-bone. Expertly cooked. Just perfect. Bar drinks, both exotic and standard, were excellent. Our Manhattans were excellent. Add to that from the hotel manager to the food service manager to housekeeping to front door assistance- total commitment to customer service. Enthusiastic, warm, friendly and helpful. The Four Seasons exemplifies what we came to love about Kyoto , its culture and welcoming people. Absolutely hope to return. A plus plus plus!

A must see hotel & City. The tranquility of the hotel with the charm and history of Kyoto is absolutely lovely

It was cherry blossom season so I expected crowds everywhere - but when I saw the tour bus pull up to the Four Seasons main entrance I was more than a bit surprised. Perhaps it was a mistake but it set the tone and was a bad first impression. The hotel itself is quite attractive. Beautiful cherry blossom display in the main lobby was painstakingly maintained by two very dedicated ladies. Cherry blossoms were in full bloom so the hotel was totally occupied. The staff deserved kudos for keeping up with the crowd. Our suite was nicely sized and well appointed. The hotel arranged driver and tour guide were exceptional. While cherry blossoms were the reason for our visit, a return will be in the off- season where I suspect this hotel could thoroughly shine.

The Four Seasons is extraordinary on every dimension. The professionalism and proactive friendliness of everyone on the team was exceptional, and the architecture, design, and setting of the hotel is spectacular. The cuisine at dinner was so good that we canceled reservations we'd made in town in order to dine there.
