This is tough because the room was nice, the food was good, and they tried very hard, but I came for a relaxing vacation after some heavy tourism in Tokyo and Osaka, and I was unable to relax for a moment at this hotel. The minute I hit the Do Not Disturb light by the door, it was an avalanche of nuisances - they loudly chattered outside my door for several minutes in the early a.m. before jamming a piece of paper under my door to make sure i don't want service. Then they knocked later on. Then the phone rang. On the first day I made the mistake of pulling the covers over my head and letting it go to voicemail. They didn't give up!! They kept calling and calling until I answered, and when I greeted them, they had the gall to say, "We noticed you have the do not disturb light on. Can we do anything to make your stay more pleasant?" Until this point I have never yelled at a hotel clerk, a waiter, or any manner of service staff in my life, but I had had it. I had tried for four naps during my stay at the Hyatt Regency in Kyoto, and every single one was disrupted by staff wondering loudly how they they could better "not disturb" me. I told them to leave me alone and then asked the front desk to instruct all staff to leave me alone until checkout time, because I had a long travel day the next day. The front desk called me 7 times the next morning, because they had entered my chech out time wrong and then didn't fix it right, and then they wanted to know if i needed a bell hop, and then they forgot when i said so they called back to verify... You get the picture. On a bright note, the food was terrific and the staff generally truly seemed like they were friendly and concerned about my stay - it was just way too much. Perhaps this is not a hotel for introverts who enjoy sleep. Also, no pool. For that price, add a darned pool.

Hyatt Regency Kyoto was a great place to stay with incredibly friendly staff, great food, and excellent benefits for World of Hyatt members. I recommend the La Petite Chef for all ages. Enjoyable experience and delicious food. The hotel is a quick 5-8 minute walk to grab a train for quick travel around town.

Good location. Adequate and clean rooms, Outstanding service. Very expensive. Solid breakfast. Downstairs bar is excellent and the pricing makes sense.

lovely experience and staff. spotless, hot, powerful showers, located in a quiet area but across from a museum and near train/metro stations.

The Hotel is perfectly located; the staff are excellent as are the rooms. Two staff members in particular added to the positive experience. Dennis Suherman and Shinobu ETO.
