A superbly managed and beautifully sited property in one of the loveliest locations in the world. The staff is exceptionally friendly (at times almost too much so, but staying just shy of the line of being overbearing). We were given an upgrade to a palatially sized suite. The only criticism I have is that the furniture is our suite seemed to have been designed for hobbits--it was all weirdly small scale and totally uncomfortable. It was frustrating not to have a comfortable place to sit in an otherwise lovely setting. This place is quite expensive, but I was sorry to check out.

Great hotel and overall good service. We enjoyed pretty much everything with the exception of the restaurant - L˜ARIA. Everything was very disappointing from the moment we entered the L˜ARIA restaurant: the welcome, service, coordination amongst the staff and most importantly the food. Should we never come back to this hotel, L˜ARIA restaurant will be the only reason “why”. It’s really a shame because the absolute 1st impression of the hotel was excellent.

A wonderful special weekend. I highly recommend if you are looking to stay in the best hotel in Lake Como. The rooms are stunning, overlooking the lake, spacious, attention to detail is flawless and the bed guarantees you a great nights sleep. The customer service is best in class, remembering you everytime you enter the bar or one of its fabulous restaurants. We were with a friend who loves martini's and he said it was the one he had ever had globally. Wine list is comprehensive and the food delicious. A visit must include the spa and swimming pool area, both the outdoor floating one but also the indoor one, which looks like it was built into the mountain with fabulous stone ceilings. There is a complimentary shuttle service into Como, needs to be reserved on the day, our driver was so knowledgable. This was our second stay, we are already planning to go back in October.!! What a beautiful hotel ! The hospitality of a Mandarin Oriental in a beautiful Italian setting, how could it get any better ? The views are exceptional, all the staff were attentive, friendly and made us feel welcomed. The hotel has everything you could wish for (and more): great restaurant (both are very good but special mention for l’Aria), a floating pool on the lake, an indoor spa, yoga room, kayak, gym…we try it all ! Besides the incredible views, the setting of the hotel is extremely well designed, with the modern part « disappearing » in the botanical garden. Our family stay there was exceptional !

I'm hesitant to write this review but was encourage to do so by friends and family that we related our experience to. They mentioned that people planning family vacations and honeymoons etc. should be aware that the accommodations can be as other have noted noisy. The setting for this hotel is spectacular. Staff and food were fabulous. However, we were in the upper building. Where we stayed were paper thin. We could hear the "nighttime activity" of our neighbors. We didn't complain as we were meeting colleagues and it was the end of season so room changing was difficult as only one building appeared in operation. If you're booking expecting a serene restful stay make sure you're in the main building. We did contact management and MO corporate after our stay. Let's just say the line staff and those that interact with guests are fabulous. Not the same for corporate. We travel frequently and have had many MO stays. This was our last.
