Reviews for High Peaks Resort

Adirondack feel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 hours ago

Really beautiful lobby with well appointed room. Definitely had that Adirondack feel. Happy with the coffee station set out in lobby every morning and cookies/lemonade in afternoon. Each room has a fridge-microwave extra. Our room (404) was set over the top of the mechanical building so a little noisy but still had a nice view of the lake. Very easy to walk to restaurants, shops, etc while having free parking with in and out as a guest. Bring your bathing suit to use indoor/outdoor pools! Would return!

Perfect Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Stayed in the resort building while in town for the total eclipse. Every staff member we encountered was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The Dancing Bears restaurant has great food and drink options and offers room service. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable and offer outdoor seating. The location is perfectly located on Main Street allowing you to easily walk to restaurants, shops, the Olympic Center, and around Mirror Lake.

Nice Resort, but.......

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

High Peaks is a very nice place in great little town. BUT please just be careful. There is a TON of slippery spots. Once the water drips to sidewalk and freezes........it's an ice rink. I took a nasty fall outside the lower level of hotel entrance. Extremely slick. Reported to hotel. I asked them to file a report. I was offered a bag for ice when I went to front desk. Not sure what protocol is for follow up in a situation like this, but it was non-existent. Take your time getting around.

Confirm which building you are in -

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

Before you book, note it's 3 buildings that are separate (they all have lake views). What I was not told was that they differed by price. Wish I had known that in the first place. I called the hotel directly to book and the person at the front desk was friendly and accommodating. Though they could not provide our group a block, we were able to book 3 rooms close to one another. The hotel emailed the confirmations to me. Although the person assisting me told me about the 3 buildings, he did not mention a cost differential nor that we would be separated from the group. When we checked in, I signed the paper work and was told of a security deposit that would be refunded (I figured that was the price differential). We ended up in different buildings but I was told they are right across the street from one another, which wasn't a big deal; same view and they are legitimately across the street from each other. When I got my credit card statement, it was a couple hundred more than the email confirmations indicated. When I called, I was again told this was security deposit and it would be refunded within a week. I called back a week later, and a different employee addressed my bill. They said that it was not a refundable deposit, rather that my room was a different rate than the other 2 that I booked because it was in another building. I was confused since I booked all 3 at once and wasn't told they were different prices. Then, he said the disconnect/different cost was because I booked my particular room with a travel agent (I did not). He then asked "Did you sign the paperwork at the check-in" and I said yes- and his response was "well I am sorry you didn't read it carefully". His attitude was a departure to the friendly people I dealt with in making the reservation. Had I known my building was more costly, I would have booked the more economical option, because the rooms were similar with the same beautiful view. The room I was in, though right on the lake (which was partially frozen), was dated. There was mold on the bathroom caulking and the duvets were stained; these are things I would generally give a pass on, but not for a couple hundred more. Perhaps in the summer this location across the street makes it more valuable, but not in the winter.

Not friendly to hockey families

Came for a hockey tournament to this hotel that participats in this. Watched the whole time, rooms seperated, rude manager, asked for meeting room to use, given tiny area with not enough seating. Just a rude place and wilk never come back again.
