White is right!

TLDR: The first thing my daughter said to her father when he picked us up from our Mother's day stay was that there were BUTT CHEEKS on the window. That's her memory of this weekend. Can't wait to hear from her teacher what she shares in class today. I would recommend checking in on your app as it tells you when the room is ready. Check-in was messy. There isn't signage or staff in the lobby to help. There is 1 line (no separate Hilton Honors line). They only do upgrades in person (maybe for the $20 trick or to size you up). If you want to check in 2 hours early, you must book a room for the night before. Hotel made it seem like they did me a favor that I had a room to go to when I checked in as several guests were stuck waiting for a text. She also kept having to run in the back, like to check with her manager if they could give me an upgrade or to make my room key, etc. Turns out she was the Front Office Manager. BIZARRE. Contrary to the welcome email I got after booking, I did not get a dedicated concierge for a flawless visit. You're routed through their ticketing system. I ended up having to follow up at the end myself as they didn't deliver. Maybe if I was just booking a spa appt or dinner reservation, they would have been helpful. We couldn't regulate the room temperature. It was ungodly hot (70) when we walked in. Took about 3 hours for it to cool down to 68. Ended up having to set it to 72 as it was too cold. Water pressure in the shower was lacking. Zero personal touches. At high-end properties, we've received a handwritten note with a small amenity. Nada. The concierge did send up a cupcake decorating kit later to celebrate Mother's day. The pool was empty. There's a towel booth but no attendant. Had to flag someone down to grab them. Room service has 2 separate charges (delivery and service). Allegedly that's gratuity. Not so sure b/c the server was surprised and really thankful when I gave him a cash tip. Food was standard, maybe not as good as the Wynn. Salad was exceptional - crisp and clean lettuce with the right amount of dressing. Seeing my girls so happy by the end of the night flipped my attitude toward the property. I would totally rebook this even though it was no better than a 3 star experience. They really loved the pool and the tub in the room. UNTIL......my girls had been looking out the window at the strip so I thought they must have dirtied the windows and left their handprints. We clean up after ourselves and I come prepared with wipes. Look a little closer and what do I see, it's very graphic and NOT my 7yo. I'm LIVID at this point as I cleaned the ottoman earlier thinking my kids left white stains on the ottoman. I'm now wondering if it's bodily fluid from a previous guest (GAG). Before ANYONE wants to claim that it's me making said smudge. Look, even in my prime before kids, my boobs did not look that great or in symmetry like a grade-A surgeon's touch. I message the hotel (a little after 9pm). I received the MOST PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE PETTY RESPONSE over an hour later from the front desk manager. Not even an offer to clean it up. They didn't take my invitation to come and see what they're now calling a "smudge". Even after I told them what the image CLEARLY WAS. By then, my girls has passed out so I waited til they woke up the next morning. We were out of there a little after 9am. Opted to eat breakfast off the property. The hotel's overall service was no better than a $19/night hotel on Freemont. Luxury five-star white glove this was not. It was more of a middle finger. They did live up to their promise of "AN UNFORGETTABLE STAY IN THE HEART OF THE STRIP". What a way to celebrate Mother's day. After proofing my review, I had my a-ha moment that the hotel probably only wants White customers. The people who didn't have to wait for their room, or had someone bring them towels at the pool, or received bottle water at check in, were...and all the people who had hiccups or had to wait for a text for their room were.....

Perfect for a quiet Vegas experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

This hotel is perfect if you want to find as quiet and calming of a retreat right on the strip as possible. For that reason, I will always stay here when I’m in Vegas. None of the intolerable casino smoke and hordes of crowds but right next to them if you want to engage. The rooms are very tasteful and elegant with spectacular views of the strip. The 4 stars mainly reflects the relative lack of dining choices, the small pool area, and the fact our do not disturb spontaneously would turn off which lead to some near misses that would’ve been… suffice to say, awful.

Amex Cardholders will be Rewarded

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

The Las Vegas Waldorf Astoria is a monumental deal for Amex Platinum cardholders who are also Diamond HHonors members. Amex Aspire cardholders benefit as well. All benefits stack. Start with the $200 annual hotel credit for prepaid stays through the Fine Hotels program. Booking through the program earns a $100 property credit, a daily $60 breakfast credit total for two people and a 4 PM late checkout. The latter is unheard of for Hilton family properties. And housekeeping was not banging at the door on the last day, either. Diamond members then enjoy an additional $50 per day for food and beverage. The Amex Aspire offers a $200 credit spent at resort properties twice a year. Had to create a spreadsheet to track our daily spending to make sure we exhausted the $520 credits over our two day stay. Fairly easy to do given the prices in the main restaurant. All of that said, we certainly enjoyed the property. Excellent service at the pool without the upsells common at other Vegas properties. Complimentary sunscreen and the ability to move umbrellas were nice touches. Nice that we didn’t have to endure booming music, either. Room was quiet and the blackout curtains did the job. Never saw the courtesy car and were told it would be a 90 minute wait to use it since it may not be reserved in advance. The restaurant service, cuisine and cocktails were excellent. Every server went the extra mile. Roses on Mother’s Day were appreciated. Very happy to stay at a non casino hotel without all of the accompanying nonsense that pervades those properties.

A respite from the sound of boisterous vegas stteets

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Stayed here for a weekend. Service surpassed our expectations. We arrive very late in the evening so we werent assigned to a high floor but we got upgraded to a bigger corner room overlooking the city. Hotel was clean and staff are friendly and corteous, easy to talk to. Had breakfast at zen restaurant and food was delicious and service was excellent. If you prefer a quiet hotel with no casinos and smell of cigarettes this is an excellent place but just was stones throw away from Aria, Vdara or Bellagio. All in all we loved our stay here and we’ll definitely stay here again next time we’re in Vegas.

Needs to be better

In Vegas for a conference that was taking place at this hotel. Guys at front door are good, told me about the free shuttle to places along the strip, and shuttle driver good, returned my phone which slipped out of my pocket during the ride. Gym is decent as are the lap pools. View was ok, not as good as Wynn Encore where I last stayed. I could see Park MGM, Aria and the canyons in the distance. But the low rise parking lot and another low rise container looking structure kind of ruined the canyon views just beyond. Elevators and corridors have a darkish theme, where you feel like someone should switch on more lights. Room was ok. Not as spacious as Encore but comfortable enough. Biggest drawback is that you can hear doors in the hallway opening and closing all the time. That’s annoying. They need to fix how the doors shut to dampen that noise. Housekeeping needs training. They clean ok. But they simply do not respect the do not disturb sign. On my first day, she knocks and then tries to open the door and was surprised when I opened it. She couldn’t explain why she tried to enter despite admitting she saw the impossible to miss red light is on. I wondered if she was up to no good so reported it to front desk. The manager texted me and said he will call me to speak but never followed up on that so we never spoke. On my last day, I got a late check out to noon from the standard 11am. A few minutes past 11, housekeeping again knocks and opens the door. Maybe this time she is wondering if I checked out already despite the do not disturb lit up. But if the red light is on, it’s common sense to call front desk and find out if guest is still there or not. For a tier 1 brand hotel, this is sloppy at best, suspicious at worst. And the manager not following up to speak with me shows amateur hour on full display. At the price point, I would go with Encore any day of the week unless you need to attend a function at the Waldorf itself.
