Very lovely common areas and nicely decorated rooms. Comfortable bed and pillows (we had been traveling for nearly 6 weeks and had plenty of bad pillows to compare these to). Good shower and towels - and nice to have a window in the shower!

We had a lovely one night stay for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is very conveniently located just around the corner from Trafalgar Square. We loved the look and feel, which felt modern and classic at the same time. Staff are attentive and friendly. The breakfast was very enjoyable. I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a stay in central London.

I recently stayed at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel for nine nights in June 2025, expecting a high standard of service from a luxury property in the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Unfortunately, our experience was marked by a series of avoidable issues that made our stay frustrating and uncomfortable. Housekeeping was inconsistent throughout the trip. Bottled water was not replenished daily as promised, and towels were frequently missing. We had to request these basics multiple times, only to be met with resistance or attitude at the front desk. Midway through our stay, a leak began dripping steadily from our bathroom ceiling. While we were relocated to a different room, that room had not been properly prepared. The in-room cooler was broken (confirmed by staff), and we found spoiled cheese left behind by a previous guest. We ended up disposing of it ourselves to avoid the odor. To make matters worse, London was experiencing a heatwave, and the lack of cold beverages or reliable access to water made the situation even more uncomfortable. For a hotel of this caliber and cost, these service gaps were unacceptable. I brought all of this to hotel management’s attention, and while they apologized and offered some Hyatt points, the resolution did not match the scale of the experience we had. I’ve stayed at other Unbound Collection properties, including the Eliza Jane in New Orleans, and had a much better experience, so this was disappointing by comparison. This property has a lot of potential and an impressive design, but our stay unfortunately didn’t reflect the level of service expected from a top-tier Hyatt hotel.

The Great Scotland Yard is well positioned, a stone’s throw from Whitehall and Trafalgar Square. The room was small, and when I arrived it was a sweltering day but the thermostat in the room had been limited so it only turned down a certain distance. To address this, an engineer had to come in and fiddle about in the roof. Small thing that was dealt with but in combination with not having a fridge in the room this felt like cost cutting in the name of the climate - which doesn’t sit well with a 5* offer. That said, the breakfast was excellent and the stair-lift thing for mobility constrained people is very cool - my youngest loved it. Staff on the door were excellent - very friendly and helpful.

we decided to add a couple pf nights during our road trip around england and scotland. after dropping off the car and getting a train from manchester we booked two nights here after seeing the photos and knowing its an historic building. we booked the sherlock suite (has 5 sherlock) and once w e arrived all was good, great staff, friendly and nicely decorated lobby with art and artifacts from scotland yard police. we were given room 118 and once we arrived in our room it was nicely laid out, small furniture and very comfortable bed, large marble bathroom with a lot of lights. one thing that made me go "hmm!" was the view...you don't have one and it a brick wall from another building and the other side near the bed was a corridor, but again...lotsa of light and this was a building for the police, not a hotel so we went with that. the bar in the lobby was nice and enjoyed a couple of g&t's prepared by (sorry, forgot name) portuguese bartender that was great and very friendly while we chatted. breakfast was also good in the cafe near the bar enjoying good food, friendly staff and small menu which makes it easier on what you want...great stay!!
