Due to some last minute change of plans my wife and I ended up staying at The Peninsula over Christmas. We booked a terrace room (which was a bit pointless in England in December).. and they very kindly upgraded us to a terrace suite on the 7th floor which was fantastic. I have never seen a “valet door” in a hotel before and have to say it is a great idea. The Chinese restaurant Canton Blue is outstanding. Especially the Peking duck. All the staff were fantastic. It is overall a very well oiled machine. My only gripe was that they should have locked the revolving doors in The Lobby restaurant where we had Christmas Day lunch. The doors just brought a constant revolving stream of freezing cold air into the restaurant and thus killing any cosy festive vibes. Photo attached of the control panel of the most futuristic toilet I’ve ever had the pleasure to use.

We usually stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park but decided to try the Peninsula. Service was impeccable: from efficient check in, to very prompt PenChat (WhatsApp for any requests) requests being handled (I asked for foam pillows and they showed up within 4 minutes!). We had to cut our stay short and front desk accommodated us over PenChat without any difficulty. The decor is quite kitschy and lobby restaurant means anyone walking off the street just walks in front of you while having breakfast. Breakfast was ok, nothing amazing, short staffed and delayed. Room service from canton restaurant was very good, dim sum was fast and tasty. Lovely details in the room for my son, such as a custom teddy bear with his name embroidered waiting for him on the bed, and a David Williams Xmas book which we enjoyed reading together. Spacious rooms (for £2120/night it’s almost double the size of a similar cost room at the Mandarin). Location means rooms can be noisy at night but central for getting tube/bus/walking anywhere.

Had an incredible stay at this beautiful hotel for my 70th Birthday arriving 6th December. We checked in at 9.30 am and after a glass of complementary champagne each, we had a coffee in the lovely hotel cafe whilst we waited for a Hospitality room to be ready. We were grateful for the hospitality room which we had by 10.30 ish and chilled until midday when we had a delicious lunch at Canton Blue. The Peking Duck was outstanding as was the service. Our lovely server gave us a detailed tour of the restaurant explaining all the detailed architectural features and their meanings. I was presented with a cute birthday dessert with our coffee. Our room was soon ready and they moved us and all our luggage into our beautiful too. for the next 4 days. Although we had an entry level room, it was beautiful and so well equipped. Big comfy bed, amazing walk in wardrobe with a dressing table and Dyson hairdryer. The bathroom was incredible with a huge TV at the end of bath, a walk in shower, two sinks and a Japanese toilet which was fun and very impressive. The hotel had gifted me a bottle of English Sparkling wine, a chocolate birthday cake and some birthday balloons. Quite a first impression. We were lucky enough to have several rides in the Stunning House cars. Must give a nod to the staff running the cars as well as the lovely drivers. They really looked after us and made us feel special. The hotel pool was beautiful and we used it a couple of times during our stay. We loved Brooklands bar, great theming, cocktails and views. Peninsula time allowed us to check out at 20.30pm which gave us a lot of extra time to enjoy such a wonderful hotel. Our only criticism would be there is no guest lounge - would have been nice to use Brooklands Bar for a quiet read before it opened at lunchtime. The staff and service was top notch, particularly the front desk and Concierges. Hope to be able to save up for another stay sometime. Will never forget our experience.

From the moment you enter the hotel you feel the luxurious service and atmosphere. The location of the hotel is superb and near to Knightsbridge and Mayfair .The room is amazing and spacious .It has a terrace which was partly overlooked the Hyde park and the winter wonder land .The room is full of all luxury amenities .I liked the idea of the Valet box in which the room service will keep the items you ordered in case of do not disturb sign is switched on and there is a message shows to you that there is something in the box .there is one more luxury thing that hotel provide the car service to some places .They have Rolls Roy’s , Bentley , BMW and London green cap.The breakfast room is well decorated with chandeliers and high ceiling.I would like to thank all the staff.I want to especially thank Isaac and Lara for their hospitality and great welcoming .I will definitely like to come back again .

The hotel is located exactly off a large round about and the entrance when walking is not easy to access. My room was booked via Amex and it was ready early which was nice but they did not have the benefits noted correctly and asked me if I could send them a copy of the e mail I had which was odd and at this luxury level not what you expect. The room was wonderful. Set up so nicely with a dressing room and a bathroom and hallway so like 3 mini spaces, well 4 if you count the hallway. Room wise one of the best jobs I have seen this year. There was a bottle of sparkling wine, but missing the bottle opener in the little space in the drawer. So no way to open it without a phone call which is just not what you need. These kind of tiny details are what the issues were. Breakfast was great but they always seemed to be short on staff. The coconut yoghurt was the best I have ever tasted! A wonderful surprise on one the set menus. Waitress in lovely dresses, all designed in the UK. Chinese lunch at the restaurant was average and very heavy on oil. Housekeeping did a great job but very slow to come if you just pressed the service light, again seemed short on staff. The biggest wonder of the stay was the valet closet where you put your dirty clothes and they appear back hanging or in a leather basket without having to make a phone call! So over all some highs and lows. It’s a very large hotel and for me gave the impression of a very high end shopping mall in Asia. The courtyard rooms are lovey so do not be put off by them as they are light and great
