About the Hotel

You might still spot politicians enjoying a reprieve from Parliament at The Royal Horseguards. It began life as The National Liberal Club in 1884 and was commandeered by the Ministry of Defense during both world wars to headquarter the M15 and M16, Britain's secret intelligence organizations. After undergoing a full renovation in 2008, sparkling chandeliers and contemporary accents join the oil paintings and rich red and gold furnishings that still retain the air of Westminster.

Well located hotel

The Royal Horseguards Hotel is in a convenient quiet location. Our standard bedroom was on floor 5 ,and of a good size but the double bed was cosy for two tall people . The breakfast buffet was amazing The hotel staff ( Olena in particular,))were very pleasant and welcoming ,

Excellent afternoon tea.

The hotel is beautiful. The sitting area for tea is elegant and cosy. The tea was excellent and the Prosecco was very good. The food was fresh and of good quality. However, the highlight of the visit was the service. Olena, our waitress, was amazing. She explained all the menu, reviewed my sister’s food allergies with the kitchen and always addressed us with a great smile.

A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

All staff were friendly and attentive. Although the room was clean and well furnished, there was no view or even any daylight through the window, which had an opaque covering (room 121), which was rather dismal. Not sure why (bed or pillows/covers), but neither of us slept well. The hotel was in a great location, so everywhere was easy to get to. I would have preferred some element of service at breakfast, but we had to do absolutely everything ourselves. For the price this was disappointing. The chairs were also rather uncomfortable. The one night stay was for a special birthday treat for my partner, but, sadly, it didn't feel quite special enough to me.

Impressive Hotel

This is a very impressive hotel. All the staff, from the concierge to the cleaning were so friendly and obliging. Our room was large and very comfortable with soft bedding, large bathroom with heated flooring and towel rail. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. We had no idea where to go for anything and without the staff assisting us we would not have seen half of what we did visit. We would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly choose it again should we return.

Great location and overall decent hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The outside of the hotel is massively impressive, and the location is great. Inside the room on first impressions I was really impressed, especially with features such as underfloor heating in the bedroom, the way the lights can dim and even take a few seconds to turn off so you aren’t stumbling to the bed in the dark. The tap for the sink was really stiff, and the tap in the bath was coming loose off the bath itself so these could do with looking at. The mirror over the desk is too high to be able to sit and use it, so I had to stand while drying and straightening my hair and doing my makeup, which wasn’t the most convenient. It could do with being lowered or a higher chair. Breakfast was lovely and I couldn’t fault it. Overall a lovely stay and only a few little niggles really.
