Hotel Splendide Royal Lugano

The Hotel Splendide Royal, and staff…are nothing less than PERFECT. Beautiful accommodations, and a staff that goes above and beyond - to create a perfect stay. We could not have selected a more amazing hotel, at which to celebrate our Anniversary.

Perfecto! Nothing bad you can say. Great location, superb staff, nice restaurants, great rooms, etc. 10/10 would stay there again. The views of the lake are remarkable, and it’s nicely located not too far from either central Lugano or Paradiso.

This hotel has a bit of work to do.....We stayed for 3 nights in August 2025. The staff were nice enough, but not very warm & inviting. It took 30min to check us in. Not sure why. No drinks were offered. We just had to wait. It was a warm week & we were on the 4th floor, so the AC was really struggling. We asked for floor fans b/c it was so hot in our room. We had 3 rooms, as we were traveling as a group of 9, & they only had enough floor fans for 2 of our 3 rooms. The food at the hotel is extremely overpriced for what it is. We were a bit disappointed in the hotel based on what we were paying per night. The rooms were nicely appointed, but there was just too many things in the rooms & on the surfaces. It felt very cluttered. Lastly, we needed to leave one of the mornings by a certain time & a tour bus was blocking the entire driveway, so no one could go out or come in. The hotel didn't seem very concerned or rushed about it. We were late to our destination due to the bus blocking the driveway. We likely won't be returning.

Just across the road from the lake, we were lucky enough to be upgraded from a superior room to a deluxe lake view room. The views were just beautiful. The room was very well appointed, with a really comfy king size bed and great aircon. From the moment we arrived until we left, all staff members we encountered were so friendly and helpful. We had remembered to book parking in advance, although there is an additional charge for this. We had a snack and some drinks at La Piazetta. Food was delicious, and lovely location, but service was quite slow despite it not being busy. Dinner at La Veranda was delicious, with great menu choices and wine selections. We will definitely be back!

The hotel is very.. as the nsme suggests very splendid..in MOST areas . The location is beautiful and the views from the hotel over lake lugano are breathtaking. The rooms themselves are a 'classic' decor but are in desperate need of a refurbishment. Scuffed paint and warn carpet are not classic but outdated and past it..and this really let's it down. 99% of the staff are great. However some look at you and interact with you as if you were stuck to the bottom of their shoe. Whether it's a re training issue or an attitude problem is unknown but it left a very bitter taste with us regardless that it was our honeymoon. The restaurant we visited ,I due sud was outstanding and arguably the best staff and food iv ever experienced in a restaurant. But il give a separate review on that . In summary it is a lovely hotel .but is let down badly by the issues.
