Hotel closed.

The hotel is now closed. I walked by today and there is signage indicating a renovation. Great location in very charming Old Town. Surprised there is no notation of that on this site. I am not aware of a 5-star hotel Old Town, so this would be good addition.

Great location - nice but strange rooms

This hotel is conveniently located in old Lyon so it’s easy to get to most of the main attractions. They serve an excellent breakfast buffet worth taking advantage of because you’ll need the energy to handle all the walking you’ll do. The bar is nice and they even have a few street facing tables so you can people watch. The bartender will bring you an inherently French cocktail that will become your new favorite! The room I stayed in was very nice and well appointed but it would not have been a good room to share - thus 4 stars. There is no separation between the bedroom and the tub - which is literally next to the bed and then a glass enclosed shower where if you’re sharing a room, there is no privacy whatsoever. Sink is also in the room. The toilet at least is behind a closed door but it’s a small area and a large person would have great difficulty getting in and out.

Class establishment!

The hotel itself is amazing, oozing so much atmosphere. Great location in Lyon old town, but have to say, the highlight are the staff. Nothing was too much, a credit to the hotel and Lyon city - thank you.

Fantastic hotel!

We stayed in one of the duplex suites. It was so unique and roomy! One caveat is that there are stairs up to the sleeping loft so would not recommend for someone with trouble getting up and down the stairs. But if this is not an issue, this room was unlike any we have stayed in before. It was also so quiet that we slept in - which is something we are not used to with kids and dogs. The staff were incredibly helpful and gracious. The morning breakfast was had lots of variety of cheeses, fruits, breads, pastries, yogurt, eggs, and meats. It was a great way to start the day. The location was excellent. Its in the old city but easy walking to other sites or to transportation to other sites. Would highly recommend!

Highs and lows of Cours des Loges

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed October 15, 2022

The Cour de Loges has an great location and old world ambiance, being a historical building in Old Lyon. It’s very dark which feels gloomy. And the rooms of the reception area are a mishmash of dark sitting rooms, not inviting. The staff was wonderful! At first glance the rooms are what I would call dreamy, like you woke up in another era. But when you really start to live in the room, so many things made the stay below par, most notably the bathroom. There was a step up into the bathroom, another safety issue when you get up in the middle of the night. Our shower was built into a dark closet with a light so dim you could barely see, which I found unsafe. The hair dryer was so old and heavy and cumbersome to use. In general the room felt like it was getting a little long in the tooth, dings in the wall and rickety table. There are no information sheets in the room that we could find, and when we wanted to call the front desk we couldn’t figure out how to use the phone, as it wasn’t the usual hotel room phone. The bed itself was comfy. I found out upon leaving that the hotel will soon be closing for a remodel, which it desperately needs. Can’t wait to see what that does to room rates. I hope the remodel maintains the old world feel , but brightens it up and brings the rooms up to a more modern standard. Thankfully the staff was truly terrific, which outweighed the negatives.
