Here in the capital of gastronomy and the birthplace of the silk industry, the rich history of Lyons will delight lovers of art and culture. In the heart of the city, the Sofitel Lyon Bellecour hotel is located in a district classed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Between the Saône and Rhône rivers, enjoy a walk along the banks and discover the authentic cuisine of Lyons' renowned Bouchons. Ascend the heights and dine in the 8th-floor restaurant for breathtaking views of the city which produced the Lumière brothers. Chef Christian Lherm offers culinary creations every bit as exquisite as the landscape.

As many reviews indicate, the hotel rooms are tired and could use a refresh but this was all overcome by the wonderful service that we received in our 3 night stay here. Every staff we encountered was superb and offered helpful assistance. With our family of four, we had a Jr Suite and it was quite roomy. The bed in the bedroom was super fluffy and comfortable. I didn't expect this high level of service and was pleasantly surprised!

The hotel is cozy, the bar on the 8th floor is beautiful with a spectacular view, the staff is really great and the cocktails are great! There was a life singer all the evening, it was really great, she is really good! Only less: the rooms are a bit old with broken stones and painting, so would be good to have some renovation… Sofitel so the beds are very comfortable and as we were there 1 day before Valentine we get a special attention in the room, thank you! Breakfast is gorgeous with an amazing view!

This hotel doesn’t appear have been renovated since 1970- outdated, worn furniture and colours. Skirting boards and door frames coming off walls, stains and chips on every piece of wooden furniture, carpet wrinkled on the floor, and I upgraded to a suite. No mini bar, the supposedly high end restaurant had about 3 things on the menu- it was empty when I went and no wonder. They had tradies there so hopefully starting a Reno but years overdue. This is the only ugly building in Lyon- and it looks like it needs to be knocked down. Great view of the city from in it- but not looking at it or staying in it.

The hotel is very well located between both rivers and within walking distance from most sights. Although the hotel has some hints of luxury, it also looks a little bit outdated in some areas, The rooms are spacious, clean and nice. The hotel has plenty of ammenities. Staff were very nice and helpful. Also, for us the easy access and parking on site was important since we were doing a road trip through the region. Something more difficult for hotels in the old town. At a price of around 180 EUR per night I think it is still good value for money for this hotel category.

Stayed 3 days in suite room and standard room. I have never seen a sofitel like this one. The room is very old, the carpet old and brown, and the rooms are dark. That said, the river view from our room was lovely, and that was the highlight for me. The bed was also a proper Sofitel bed, soft topper, supportive mattress, soft comfy sheets. I didn’t sleep well the first night, partly because we checked in late and the room felt old and dark, but I slept very well the following nights. The lobby area is nice and new. The staffs are helpful. Had christmas dinner at les 3 domes, food was ok, i was expecting better as i heard it used to be a michelin restaurant. Breakfast was ok, too many people for too little restaurant. Love the restaurant view. Went to the lounge at night and the view is nicer than that in the restaurant. I searched the reviews and saw that they have renovated rooms, but i asked and the reception said there were none as the hotel are waiting for renovation. it will be a very good Sofitel when it is renovated.
