Fantastic hotel - time-honoured, but in top condition - in a dreamlike garden with paradisiacal flora and fauna. When you sit here in the evening with a drink, you are completely in your own world, can enjoy yourself and relax perfectly.

Quiet and very nice hotel in a beautiful garden directly on the golf course. The suites are very nicely decorated and very convenient.

This is a quiet, small, lovely luxary hotel in a beautiful setting up in the mountains. We enjoyed a spacious, cozy room on the second floor with a wonderful view overlooking the garden. It even had a small balcony! The restaurant is great, breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner were delicious - we enjoyed every bite of it. The service is friendly and we felt very welcome by everyone. Do not forget to visit the Palheiro Gardens and the Spa! It's free for the hotel guests. The location is perfect: Off the beaten path but not too far from the action (15 min to downtown Funchal). Highly recommended!

This is a very good hotel. We had a really comfortable, spacious and clean room in the main house which was kept immaculately by the housekeeping staff during our stay. Everything about this hotel is, correctly, geared to guests' enjoyment and peace of mind; nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the friendly staff to arrange or sort out. We ate in both the main restaurant and the Golf Club and the food was excellent in both. We look forward to returning, as rarely have we found such a complete hospitality package.

A charming and elegant property set high in the hills with glorious gardens and grounds. A beautifully managed hotel with excellent service in all departments - our suite was bright spacious and luxurious. There is an hotel shuttle to take you to Funchal, although we used taxis which were organised for us by the front staff. Surrounded by nature walks and the golf course the views down to Funchal are astounding. Bar lounge and restaurant of the highest quality. And it was fun!
