Reviews for Hotel Villa Real

Wonderful hotel!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Wonderful hotel! This hotel is wonderful, beautiful building, wonderful staff, and the perfect location! The hotel is located in a great location that made it easy to explore the surrounding area and get to the areas we wanted to visit. Lobby is beautiful with helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are very spacious with gorgeous views from the balcony and comfortable beds. Turn down service was a nice surprise with the option to call down for a custom pillow and rose left by the bed. Breakfast buffet was very good. The hotel also has a beautiful collection of art and archeology! I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Madrid!

Fantastically located, clean, friendly and professional

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Fantastic location within the old town on one side and Spanish parliamentary on the other and the centre with shops are within a 10 minute stroll away. Lovely hotel. All staff were pleasant and gave a relaxed professional and friendly atmosphere throughout. So clean, welcoming and polite and generally go the extra mile where ever possible. The reception area with complimentary sweet is a lovely touch, as is the free water by the pool. It would be nice to have other soft drinks and possible snacks available for by the pool too - think it would make use of the pool boys alot more then too. Also, the pool is so cold, would be good to have it slightly heated. The room is cleaned and checked multiple times a day. It has complimentary soft drinks refilled daily and also coffee. Disappointed that there was no tea for the room and when we asked reception for some tea - we were charged €15…. Extortionate, Tea should be complimentary like coffee as it is everywhere else.

Great boutique, artsy hotel in Madrid

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I've stayed at this hotel twice and loved it each time. The interior is beautiful and the staff are friendly. My favorite part is the museum and the art pieces in the room; they're such a great addition! The location is great, close to Sol, the Prado, and Gran Vía. Definitely give it a try if you're visiting Madrid!

Charming hotel, great location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I enjoyed my 16-night stay from beginning to end. Every staff member was welcoming, friendly, and helpful, regardless of their role or level of English, and my special thanks go to the staff at the reception desk, as well as to the doormen and the waiters in the breakfast room and on the East 47 terrace. I would highly recommend this hotel for both leisure and business travel, thanks to its client centricity and central location, with major attractions, museums, and neighbourhoods all within walking distance, as well as convenient access to public transport if needed, such as for commuting to Madrid's primary business districts.

Not 4-5 star service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This is a nice hotel in a great location. The staff was kind, but in a 4-5 star hotel we should not have been confronted with the issues that we dealt with. We reserved a room for a week with breakfast included. When we checked in, they said that breakfast wasn’t included, but that because of the misunderstanding, our breakfast would cost 28 euros instead of 32. The day before we checked out, they said that they were incorrect, and that breakfast actually was included- obviously too late for us. They did not adjust our cost for their error. Our room had a toilet that wouldn’t flush and a washbasin that sometimes wouldn’t drain. We told them about it when we left one morning, but no one had even looked at it by the time we returned that evening. As a result, we needed to change rooms that night. Our new room wasn’t as nice as our 1st room- again, there was no adjustment in price. One evening a staff member came by to offer turn-down service. I told her that we were leaving in 5 minutes, so she put the chocolates and towels in my arms and said that she couldn’t wait. Then she headed off down the hall. The next morning another staff member walked into the room without knocking- fortunately, I had just finished getting dressed. Simply put, it is not the service we expect from a 4-5 star hotel, and the next time we’re in Madrid, we will stay somewhere else.
