For guests traveling to Madrid in search of Spain's artistic and cultural heritage, Hotel Villa Real is a unique property that pays tribute to the country's great museums. This Small Luxury Hotels of the World affiliate, the embodiment of the splendor of 19th century Spanish classical architecture, boasts its own extensive art collection throughout. Even the hotel's stylish guest rooms are galleries, as each blends ancient art pieces with contemporary comforts and amenities.

By being only half a step away from the main streets, the location of hotel was quiet. It is right behind the statue of Miguel de Cervantes. Around the corner from Carillón Plus Ultra. Another short hop from Thyssen-Bornemisza. The area is beautiful to wander around. We walked to all the sights on our to do list. Hotel is also only two stops on the Aeropuerto Express, a 10 minute stroll from the bus stop. The Villa Real is a 5 star hotel. The room and service met expectations. I especially appreciated the separate sitting area. It is next to the bed, but a few steps below, creating a sense of a separate room. The view from the window included moon. And if you're in the room at a certain time of the day, you'll get a nice treat to the music of the carillon. As much as I enjoyed the accommodation, as I suffered from jetlag, the thin wall didn't help with sleep. The phone rings from the next room was jarring. I think I was hearing the sound of luggage wheels on the wood floor. There is an inner door. When it is closed, hallway noises are much reduced.

We stayed at the Villa Real hotel to celebrate my wifes 50th Birthday as a family of 4. The family duplex rooms are being renovated to we were given 2 interconnecting rooms. The staff at the hotel could not do enough for you and were so kind and helpful our whole stay. The interconnecting rooms were a double and 2 singles in the other. The double room looked onto the lovely square below. Villa real also brought chocolates and Champaign wishing my wife a happy 50th birthday which was very kind of them. We did not try the rooftop pool or bar as it is not open in winter months (February). I would highly recommend this hotel and we could not have stayed in a better location to all the major attractions, while still being in a relatively quiet part of the city centre. Thank you Villa Real

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and their staff. I got sick two days after I arrived. I ended up in bed for most of the remaining time I was in Madrid. The housekeeping staff and the room service staff went above and beyond. Housekeeping kept me hydrated with extra juice and water. They would refresh the bathroom and minibar while I slept. One of the room service gentlemen came up to my room to get my order because I had lost my voice. He made me a hot honey, ginger, lemon concoction to help my throat along with the tea and broth that I asked for. The GM offered to get me a doctor. I don't think I would have received this level of service if I had stayed elsewhere. I travel a lot and have never felt this cared for at a hotel. The rooms are comfy. The bedroom area is separate from a large couch and living area. The Juliette balcony in the superior with view opens so you can get fresh air in the room. The mini-bar inclusion is fantastic. Upon arrival I had a bottle of wine and a tray of ham and breadsticks; then I got a small box of truffles. There is always fresh water and candy in the lobby. The location cannot be beat. Prado and Reina Sofia close by. Tapas street a block away. Wine shop, pharmacy, and bodega within a block or two. View of the fountain. The area is super safe and secure as you are literally across from Parliament. Police are present almost all the time. I highly recommend this hotel.

This Hotel in the perfect location in Madrid is a true find and delivers a wonderful travel /stay experience. First the location -- walk to 3 museums and many restaurants. Second, close to the old city square and that's a fun experience as it includes the impressive theater district. Third, it is beautiful inside and out; and is beautifully appointed. The rooms include a large "living" section which has a leather sofa, table, floor to ceiling french widows with either a small balcony or just a railing. Nespresso espresso machine, refrigerator well stocked -- and included -- Darken drapes help to keep the room "sun free" in the morning. The hotel has an impressive mosaic collection as well as large open spaces within that environment for sitting, relaxing and doing the occasional business/entertainment. The small bar and restaurant offer a limited but delicious tapas and full entree menu. Wine is well-priced and varied. The lobby is also quite impressive and includes an elevated reception section with high ceilings, marble abounds, and comfortable seating. Various treats are available on a large sideboard and include infused water. This is one of my favorite hotels in Europe. I highly recommend a stay there (and I think it may be dog friendly, but check that when you book.)

Fantastic location - I would recommend the rooms with the street view (I stayed in #309), really lovely if they had a better accustic isolation (I could even hear the guest next door sneezing). But the room and bathroom are a good size, towels and bathrobe great quality, good value for money, friendly service...just forget about the gym, it's some randon old equipments tucked in a small room. Swimming pool just during summer.
