Reviews for Petit Palace Savoy Alfonso XII

Don’t bother if you have a dog.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

1.Dog friendly it’s not. 2.Restaurant is a joke, it’s a breakfast bar and a very good one at that but it’s not a restaurant. Dogs not allowed. We dined at the Mandarin Ritz who incidentally welcomed our dog into their restaurant. 3. After travelling 5 hours to get here the staff gave a parking recommendation that’s been closed for months and we see previous reviews mentioning this. There is no close parking to this hotel and because they don’t monitor the outside hotel drop off you can’t unload or load your car. 4. Lovely shower spoilt by a considerably dangerous slippery floor. Bath towels are some of the best quality we have experienced. 5. Well priced mini bar and breakfast. Would stay again and hope there are improvements made as this is a 4 star Hotel.

Loved it here but there are a few concerns

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I chose this hotel carefully being a 50+ woman travelling alone. I did not want anything noisy or busy right in the Grand Via. Hotel location was perfect for me - across from the park, handy to the Prado, few minutes walk to many restaurants etc. The room was spacious with small fridge and kettle. There was a tiny balcony with opening doors for fresh air. The decor was a bit sparse but then that's the trend in some hotels. The shower floor was extremely slippery and I had to put the bath mat in the shower to stand on. Breakfast was impressive (probably the best buffet I had on my trip) and the staff friendly. Desk staff were helpful as well. There was no card swipe thing to access hotel floors so anybody could have walked in and walked around the corridors by the rooms. Unless they have security watching CCTV all the time? Madrid is expensive and I got a good deal through the Tripster Club. I did enjoy staying here but I would chose somewhere else next time.

Dishonest booking practices

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

There is something very shady going on at this hotel. I booked a refundable room for August 2026 and I recently contacted them when I realized that we would have to cancel our trip. They stated that I actually booked a non-refundable rate and would not refund me. They could not produce any evidence showing I booked the non-refundable rate. Their website gives scant information about the cancellation terms and conditions, and there was only one sentence about it in the confirmation email I received. No where in the confirmation email does it explicitly state that the reservation is the non-refundable rate. The manager states that they have no power to cancel the booking. I can only conclude that they are trying to scam us at this point. Don’t take the chance with them.

An aesthetic nightmare – zero comfort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The interior design of this hotel is a disaster. The paintwork on the wall above the bed is hideous; it’s done with such poor taste that it’s actually nauseating. The use of oversized typography is completely out of place and looks tacky. There is absolutely no coziness here. The color palette is jarring, and the furniture feels incredibly cheap. It’s impossible to feel relaxed in such an ugly environment. Cheep flooring, already cracked in many places

Do yourself a favor, don't stay in this overpriced hostel.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This is a hostel, not a 4 star hotel. So basically you pay for a 4 star hotel and get a hostel. Overall, super cheap looking, furniture is not even ikea, ugly decorated, dated... It is in desperate need of an overall upgrade. People at the reception are not even nice. The two sofas at the common area are old and dirty. The whole hotel looks cheap, dirty and dated. The only nice room of the hotel is off-limits to hotel guests (!!!!). The breakfast area is dungy and dark. Except for eggs a la carte and a great selection of fresh fruit, everything else is processed. Worst experience ever. Not even the park in front saves this hostel. Can't understand the good reviews, don't stay there.
