Luxury at its finest in the Maldives

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Maldives was nothing short of exceptional. We stayed in a stunning water villa, and waking up every morning to the most beautiful sunrise over the ocean was truly magical. The villa was spacious, elegant, and thoughtfully designed, with breathtaking views from every corner. What made this stay even more memorable was the outstanding service. A very special thank you to our butler, Anth, who made our experience seamless from arrival to departure. She was incredibly attentive, kind, and always one step ahead in making sure everything was perfect for us. Every team member we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming, which made us feel at home while enjoying such a luxurious escape. From the dining experiences to the peaceful atmosphere of the island, every detail was curated to perfection. This was a truly unforgettable getaway, and we left with amazing memories. We will definitely be returning and cannot wait to experience this paradise again

First, we stayed in St Regis for 5 days and we loved Maldives so much, we’ve decided to cancel our following trip to Switzerland and just extend our stay in Maldives but this time in Ritz Carlton. It was the BEST decision. Ever. St Regis and Ritz communicated so our transition ran smoothly. We’ve decided to take the Ritz yacht and we ended up liking it more than the seaplane because it was more relaxing. The ride took about an hour and in that hour we were offered refreshments and snacks packed in a beautiful leather box. As soon as we reached Ritz, the amazing staff happily welcomed us. I loved how the general manager welcomed and introduced himself to us. His name is Fred and everyone already knew who we were and what we are there for, our 25th anniversary. Our butler introduced herself to us and her name is Novita. She told us she will take care of us and gave us a tour around the resort and brought us to our over water villa. Upon entering our villa, the first thing we saw was the beautiful surprise welcome spread on the table. The villa is sooooo beautiful and thoughtfully designed. She showed us around the room and told us that we are invited to the cocktail hour. So we settled in a bit and got ready for the cocktail hour. We were outside our door and one of the staff just told us dolphins are by the water and pointed it to us right away. There were dozens of them swimming and it was amazing. Like it was welcoming us lol. Cocktail hour was great. Got yummy drinks and hors d’oeuvres. All the staff, managers and executive chefs came and personally chatted with all of us. I loved that. Anyhoo, to make our amazing stay story short, overall this place, the team and services are top notch. Out of this world. They actually pay attention. They do things there thoughtfully. I have been to many Ritz and St Regis’ but this specific Ritz Carlton topped it all. Top notch customer service. Oh I have to mention, I felt that all the employees are happy or well taken care of in this place. It truly shows. I also loved the feeling that they are our friends hosting you and not servers serving you. The feeling is more at home that way and that’s what we felt and we loved it. Everyone’s amazing but just want to mention specific ones who stood out even more. Novita - our amazing butler who made sure our stay was magical. Rafath - for kindly chatting up with us & comped our laundry. Chef Jesson - for surprising us amazing filipino food Chef Jackie - for cooking us delicious pho soup Grace - for gracing us her awesome self and yummy food Shugar - very kind host Mode - our room attendant who made an amazing sand arts in our room and surprised us with our birds shirts Naby - for paying attention to what we like for breakfast and my plateful of my fave mangosteen Naseem - for offering to take beautiful pictures of us Chef Mohammed & the other Nubian chef (so sorry forgot his name) - for letting us try the delicious soread in Arabesque restaurant. Amazing chefs. Executive Chef Pedro - making sure we got to taste everything in the breakfast buffet and personally chatted with us. Again, everyone in this place is out of this world amazing. I cannot thank them enough. Score- 100/10

A proper escape with the best team

A stay at the The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands is one of those experiences that’s difficult to put into words; but I’ll give it a go. We travelled as a group of six to celebrate my parents’ 40th wedding anniversary, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn’t just another luxury resort. It was something far more personal, thoughtful, and genuinely special. The resort itself is immaculate: beautifully designed, modern, and maintained to an exceptional standard. Every space feels intentional, calm, and quietly luxurious without ever being overdone. That said, the real magic lies with the people. Each morning began at La Locanda, where Ismail and Grace welcomed us warmly and set the tone for the day! Naufal quickly picked up on every detail (including ensuring I never had an empty glass of Mango juice), while Azu brought a lovely energy to the team. Isko, however, deserves special mention - effortlessly attentive, full of personality, and someone who made every breakfast feel genuinely personal rather than routine. From there, it was always a cycle to the dive centre, where Shafiu, Lili, and Katy were outstanding throughout. I completed eight dive certifications during the trip, and the level of instruction, patience, and professionalism was exceptional as were the range of available dive sites with a huge variety of marine life. Lunch at the Beach Shack became a daily highlight. The food; both on and off menu, was consistently excellent, with Chef Kushan’s tacos a standout! This was always rounded out perfectly with an incredible cocktail from Sunny (and a Fanta)! The wider team: Adey, Pony, Modu, Anoosa, and Alika were all brilliant, but Cake and George truly elevated the experience. Their ability to anticipate what you need before you’ve even thought of it, combined with a natural warmth and ease, made every day feel seamless and genuinely special!! The afternoon with the whole team was full of laughter and joy - something which sets the Ritz Fari Islands apart from anywhere else. Afternoons were spent between the spectacular beach and the Eau Bar pool. Though one of the most memorable moments for me was swimming around the central island to see the coral regeneration project and spotting the resident turtle and small reef fish. Evenings brought variety and atmosphere. The Easter gala events were incredibly well executed and clearly the result of a huge team effort. On quieter nights, Iwau (with Sabda and Samui), Arabesque (with Mo, Ammu, Adey and Chef Ahmed), and La Locanda once again delivered consistently with phenomenal and special food by Chef Lorenzo. Eau Bar, with Sharippe, Mueen, and Indika, was always a great place to round off the day. Desserts were another highlight and something I made sure to sample each night; particularly the chocolate and raspberry cake from Chefs Harsha and Yogesh. What truly tied everything together, though, was the seamless support behind the scenes. Shuhu and Muneef, our Aris Meetha, were exceptional throughout! Anticipating, coordinating, and elevating every aspect of the stay with a level of care that never felt intrusive, yet was always present. It’s difficult to overstate the impact they had on the overall experience. Their personal touches meant so much and we enjoyed finding surprises throughout our stay! This wasn’t just a holiday; it had that rare “switch off completely” feeling from the moment we arrived. We leave with incredible memories and huge appreciation for a team that consistently goes above and beyond and a countdown to booking for the next trip.

A True 5-Star Paradise: The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

If you’re looking for one of the top 5 resorts in the Maldives, look no further than The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this property is in a league of its own. The architecture is simply breathtaking — modern, elegant, and incredibly thoughtful, with stunning circular overwater and beach villas that blend seamlessly with the turquoise lagoon. Every detail feels intentional and luxurious, making the entire resort feel like a work of art. The sunsets here are nothing short of sensational. Watching the sky turn into a canvas of fiery oranges, pinks, and golds while sipping a drink from your private pool or on the beach is an experience we will never forget. It’s pure magic every single evening. What truly elevated our stay, however, was the exceptional service. Our housekeeping attendant, Ismail, was absolutely wonderful — always smiling, incredibly attentive, and went above and beyond to keep our villa spotless and comfortable every day. At the Beach Shack restaurant, our waiter Micu made every meal feel special with his warm personality and excellent recommendations. And a special mention goes to our dedicated assistant Anth, who was instrumental in making our entire holiday unforgettable. He anticipated every need, organized wonderful experiences, and even arranged a smooth late check-out, allowing us to enjoy one final perfect day without any rush. The combination of incredible design, spectacular sunsets, world-class dining, and genuinely heartfelt service made this a true 5-star vacation in every sense. The Ritz-Carlton Maldives didn’t just meet our expectations — it far exceeded them. We left with heavy hearts and are already dreaming of our return. Highly, highly recommended for anyone seeking the ultimate luxury Maldives escape.

Exceptional. Always.

If there are Aman-junkies, there definitely are also Fari-junkies. We are indeed legit Fari-junkies, behaving like a pair of migratory birds finding our way there with our preferred nesting villas on the island annually. So what makes us return? Shouldn't we get bored of this place by now that we have pretty much done everything there is to do? Well, first off, we love the hardware aka the design of the villa and the resort being the most modern currently in the Maldives in our opinion, the size of the resort being not too small and not too big, the facilities and how even at 99% capacity the resort NEVER feels crowded. But what makes this place a real winner is really the people. Over the years, we really have compared other hotels of similar caliber and price points, and although the curiosity is there to change things up for a new experience in the Maldives or elsewhere, we do end up deciding to come back to Fari where our friends are, who really go above and beyond their job description to make every day special. We certainly aren't getting easier to please every year but they somehow manage to always push the bar up higher again and again. I'm genuinely curious as to when they will actually disappoint and give me a reason to quit on Fari. But until then, Fari is a dream I'd never want to wake up from. These are some tips I would share to first timers: 1) ask for details of any planned activities the hotel has prior to check-in. Plan your stay with some major activities, special events, drinks or dinners booked. You'd be surprised at how quickly time flies once you arrive. Don't spend your first day stressing over what to do and digesting resort information. 2) wake up early and go for a jog around the island before 6:30am. The sun is brutal and it gets roasting hot after 7:15am. Pop by into the gym for cold towels and water if it gets too hot outside. 3) join the special dinner events if you can. The team puts a lot of effort into making the events fun, food and drinks selection is wide and it's definitely more fun than eating in the villa. 4) try a Muay Thai session or PT session at the gym with Mahudy. So much fun and a great way to burn those extra holiday calories 5) eat lunch and dinner at the beach shack. Beautiful beach, sun, breeze, seafood, cocktails, evening stars and planets, fantastic people...need I say more. 6) if the a la carte menu or flavour profile doesnt work for you - ask the chefs/aris meeha / restaurant manager to customize your dish or drinks rather than leaving disappointed or dissatisfied. They can spice it up, create something off-menu, even make an entire meal off-menu if you ask or request ahead of time and they wont bill or surcharge you something ridiculous because you asked. It will be within the menu price range. Had my first Aris Meeha Moosa never picked up on my disappointment during my very first stay and did not tell me that I can ask for something else off-menu and that the chefs were more than eager to customize something - I would have left feeling like Fari wasn't worth it and probably would not have returned. I have yet to meet someone at Fari who wasn't more than eager to fix something that didn't work for us. Be it a cocktail that wasn't exactly on-point or a curry that didnt have enough spice or a experience that wasn't good. Give them a chance to fix it when they have the chance to for you - all within reason of course. 7) spa. We never had a bad massage session ever. Consistently good every year. 8) Dive. Equipments are good. Your safety is always number 1. They rarely mess up. 9) know what works for you. Some people want to try every restaurant and bar and everything on the island. If it is your first time at Fari, sometimes repeating things that feels fantastic for you leaves a better memory than scattering your time around for the sake of experience. There is a lot to do on the island and you will never be able to try everything in one stay anyway. Not everything they have on offer will be your thing. 10) Sometimes social media from Fari or speaking directly with the people onsite offers more information than from your Aris Meeha. Ask. Stay curious. Talk to the people on the floor. This is not your average resort with people just doing the bare minimum. 99% of the time each and everyone is empowered to do their best for you as long as you treat them with respect. Fari has become a pinnacle benchmark of what a dreamy and luxurious vacation should be like for us both hardware and software. Our favorite place on the island - The Beach Shack - has lost the old management and the core crew has been split up. Vibe is a little different with some new faces and we aren't fans of the new menu - but again, the chefs are more than happy to re-create the old dishes the way we prefer them. We did miss the old Addey and Amu combo and the chemistry of the old shack team, and it seemed we weren't the only Fari-junkies that felt that way. Special thanks to Anoos, Cake, George, Mikku, Ramesh, Ahnad for taking care of us. Chef Ibbe at the shack can make you some properly spicy Maldivian curries and Chef Rukmal can also make you some excellent Sri Lankan dishes as well - off menu. Just ask in advance. Summer Pavilion is our next strong favorite with Chef David at the helm. Talented chef and him and his team has definitely turned this restaurant around. I'd highly recommend the king crab dumpling and the lobster truffle Har Gao. If you are in the mood to splurge, the Peking Duck - which you need to pre-order a day in advance - is authentic and absolutely delicious. You can also enquire through your Aris Meeha for any special requests to the kitchen. Mine was for a grouper fish dish made Cantonese style off menu. Our special thanks also to Chef Thien for taking such good care of us. La Locanda does a great tomahawk for dinner. Great beef quality, almost wagyu like and the tiramisu was really on-point. Almost like eating it in Italy. Special thanks to Addey and the team. Mixology team is full of passion and energy with the highly decorated mixologist Eresta with an endless creative flair demonstrated in his drinks. Gustia's gin basil smash with fizz is our ultimate summer drink for us and we consumed a disgusting number of them this year. Brian at Eau Bar loves a good challenge and will gladly make you a custom drink. But so will anyone you meet in the team. We have an evening ritual to have a nightcap at the Eau Bar - i think the space looks more stunning at night than during the day. Special thanks to Hishu for his hospitality, and the team there for always making us feel welcomed. The head somm Nishanta is delightful. Always goes above and beyond and really focuses on giving you a lasting memorable experience there rather than just selling you a bottle. If you love wine, Nishanta is your guy in Fari. We had to make our way to Arabesque this year - and quite reluctantly too since we dont like leaving Fari island - because one of our favorite guy Amu was moved there from the Shack along with Modex. The hospitality and initiatives Amu organizes and executes every time is just beyond anything we experienced from anyone, especially when he just thinks of everything A to Z out of his own imagination. Unfortunately the kind of food at Arabesque isn't something we crave in the Maldivian heat and also when we try to eat more low-carb and keto. But Amu and Mo will take great care of you when you go over there. We just probably aren't the target audience for this kind of menu. Last but not least, our very soft spoken but lightening-speed whatsapp responder Aris Meeha Arafath. Always a flawless check in and check out. He certainly has a way of taking care of everything quietly but with a steady firm hand. And Marie, for securing our much needed preferred villa location. So, I guess all we have left to do is wait for the winds to change again so we can make our annual migration over to visit our most beloved island and it's delightful ladies and gentlemen.
